It’s chilling to hear Marianne talk about the Redlands bust. It was the beginning of a dark period for her. She fought her way back, but it took years.

No one gave a shit about them outside of their perceived beauty. And- thats still the only thing anyone finds important or interesting about them, as evidenced by this comment and thousands of others. Maybe that had a negative effect?

Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg were artists and exceptionally talented and bright in the creativity realm. Marianne Faithful's latest recordings are filled up with amazing poetry. Youth belonged to Marianne Faithfull. creativity is from the Heavens., Sadly and angrily the poisonous chemical substances and brought harm upon these creative musical artists . Don't look back and keep going forward was Anita's motto. rest in peace beautiful Anita Pallenberg in God's love.🙏

Well observed, Woodbell67; that is indeed Dennis Hopper, and also that is me at the far end of the sofa on the right. I was Robert Fraser's gallery assistant for several years, and his initial liaison with the developing psychedelic scene, as I was living in the same communal apartment as Syd Barrett as he was just getting going with Pink Floyd and acid...Marianne and Anita were friends, and in the case of the latter, briefly lovers...

What I dislike is Faithfull's delight in being a "bad girl", and really "cool". Pallenberg was just naturally that way, I think, but Faithfull did it to be what she thought a rock chick shd be.

None of these people. None of them were any "day at the beach." Believe me. They all could be "catty." They all could be very difficult. They all could be incredibly self centered. If you weren't in the "inner circle" they could be your friend one day and drop you like a bad habit the next day. Whether you're talking about the Warhol "clique" in New York or the Frasers, Pallenbergs, Jaggers, Lennons I'm not sure you'd want any of them as a bunk mate at summer camp. Interesting. Yes.

Not being in the world of famous, I assure you the same happens among the “normals” too. It’s actually hard to find unconditional friendships that are also fun to explore the life with. Not that they dont exist, but finding them it’s universally hard.

*@kentucy9999* Friendship is often overrated anyway ......Most of us have good acquaintances .......These people might have been "selfcentered" but had the party of their lives.....Lots of them are still alive ,and had very fulfilled lives. None of them wouldn't even want to be "bunk mates" anyway.......nor would I .....They have certain loyalties though , and would stick up for each other. What else is new...."the other half" have their own way of functioning . Not any better or worse than yer regular hooligan ,booze "mates" .

Camilla S It's strange how so many can reach middle-age and still remain as precociously immature now as they were then . . . . as some cleverclogs once observed, nothing matters very much and very few things matter at all. i mean he's the center of attention to those who knew him and vitally important but to us who don't we only feel the trickle down effect of his influence. he wasn't so much an artist as he was a patron of arts. we know leonardo da vinci and mozart but their patrons are likely only known by those in that particular sect of the art world

The gays were always a yr ahead of everybody else. We moved from Maine to NW Connecticut when I was 12. I went to a high school at 14 which was a reg hs. This area was 2 hrs from NY City. There were a number of artist "enclaves" nearby is this rural setting and a number of gay men amongst them. Anyway I somehow got involved in this "set" though I was a jock. This was back in 1969. We did acid. mescaline, mushrooms. The gays were the 1st to do this stuff. They were more interesting than the drab.
