I was a 90s kid with a deep and abiding fascination with the 1960s. What an extraordinary era and what an utterly intriguing woman Marianne Faithful has been all her life! Her style is something I've been replicating for years! 💗💗💗

Miss Marianne, Congratulations on your many years of sobriety. You are one of THE ROCK N ROLL LADIES THAT WENT THRU IT a& SURVIVED❤RIP ANITA PALLENBERG YOUR BESTIE “ 🙏🫶🥲🥲🥲🔮Hopefully, as I’m writing you are still well”. I’m proud of you Marianne! Setting a great example to others to stay away from hard substances & drink. 🔮plus Broken English? Top of The Pops! Played on repeat at every party I was at just after it was released here in Toronto Canada ( I’m 1/2 UK ) …yes I remember!,,

Marianne is sum of everything: beauty, inteligence, good gens, culture...and crazy sixties.. Mick was so lucky to meet her, becouse she was the true muse...And the best thing is how wise she is now, without regrets and lies or false excuses for her mistakes from the past.

I had forgotten about Marianne for quite a few years (I'm almost ashamed to say that I thought she had died) until recently I saw her in a film, and all my memories of her came flooding back. I was a big fan in the late 60s early 70s but like so many artist they come and go. I'm so glad that I was reintroduced to her. I never saw her as just a sex symbol, I always thought of her as a mythical muse. The best thing about being a heroin addict is being able to say that you used to see but now you're not, I won.

Marianne is a Goddess amongst women and the true first real female Pop idol pimped on her looks whether if she had talent or not. Of course, it turned out that she very much did.

😇 Marianne Faithful has been my idol since her very first song. I wore my hair like her. I dressed like her even the shoes. I memorized all the songs on her first two albums. I had a large scrapbook filled with photographs of her. I am faithful forever to Marianne Faithful. 😎

Marianne’s album, “Broken English,” is an absolute masterpiece! A BRILLIANT work of art, ( yes, ART! ) that STILL sounds fresh and contemporary, even today! Also, check out one of her more recent releases, “Negative Capability.” P.S. Looking back, I still think she should have dumped Mick for Gene Pitney…….

I met Marianne in 1968 when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke. She sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.
@jamesb.91553 жыл бұрын
I like your story. I have hung out a few times with a former member of Frank Zappa's group (Ian) and never heard any of this stuff!
@paulinebutcherbird3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesb.9155 At what stage did you hang out with Ian. You hung out with Ian when he was still with Frank or later? Ian was there the night that Mick and Marianne sat in the kitchen, but he may not remember it. I do because I wrote about it in my diary and subsequently in my memoir, Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa. Ian also was at Mick Jagger's session at the studio when Mick was mixing Beggar's Opera. I write about that, too. I suppose he wouldn't mention it because it was not important to him.

"it really didn't matter how she sounded" speaks volumes about 60s pop
@swooningtree Жыл бұрын
Poetically enough, it ultimately absolutely did matter how Marianne Faithfull sounded. It mattered that she sounded very pure, young and British early on and that in itself made it matter that she sounded so rough and haggard after that.

I was around then and I remember her very well. I too was stunned by her looks. There is similar phenomenon going on right now (2015-2023) with a young woman in a famous K-pop group called "Twice". Her name is Tzuyu and she's from Taiwan. She's VERY pretty and, seemingly very nice and kind. She sings nicely and dances very well in the kpop style. Do a youtube search or a Google search and you'll find endless material. She's the new unicorn.

I love the question posed to the music producer in the chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce - "Can you really make a star out of someone who has no talent?". Of course the correct question is : "As a person who has no talent or gifts to offer to the music industry, can you really make yourself rich by exploiting those who do?"
