Although I'm a Red Sox fan, I have to say I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Sandman. Being the closer for the same team for 17 seasons is a feat in and of itself. Being the best at it year after year is another. Not letting it go to his head? Now, that's respectable. This man exemplified how all baseball players should be, and he will be remembered for decades (if not centuries) to come as one of the best players ever. As much as I detest the Yankees, I must admit I always loved to watch Mariano Rivera play the game, because he played it the right way.

Mo seemed to have the least success against the Sox, or close to. He blew the 2004 ALCS.
@iamhungey123452 жыл бұрын
@@broadstreet21 You know he had gave up one earned run against the Red Sox that series right? It was the same amount in the 2003 series where he was the MVP. Plus saying that he blew the 2004 series was a bit misleading when he was actually among the least of the problems with how Gordon starts struggling at inopportune time in Game 5 which puts Mo in a position that would be difficult for any closers in general and the fact that the Yankees offense suddenly starts messing up scoring opportunities after Game 3. You made it sounds like he was the sole reason for the loss which is far from the truth.

That era is what will bond me to my father forever But I am sad that I don’t even care to watch a game anymore Maybe one day the joy in it will come back 🤷♂️🙏

@Kyle Ranom, When that rule was made anybody who was wearing that number already was "grandfathered" in a was allowed to keep wearing it. Just that Mo was still young and ended up playing a long time following.

So many times in sports we argue about who’s the goat. This is a rare time where there is no doubt, the greatest closer of all time.

So glad I got to see Rivera time and time again. Some of my best baseball memories include Mariano running in from the bullpen to Enter Sandman. Doesn't sound very exciting but it was the highlight of the game.

The greatest. Played the game brilliantly and displayed nothing but class, dignity and respect. We'll miss you, Mo!
