@@DdotRay86 Jose Fernandez, who was a young rising star pitcher for the Miami Marlins baseball team, was killed in a boating accident. He was a team favorite and a fan favorite, even fans of other teams and a favorite of other players. Dee Gordon (a left-handed batter) was the leadoff batter of their first game following Fernandez' death and stood in the right-handed battery's box, and I believe he was wearing Fernandez' batting helmet, to take the first pitch of the game. This was followed by Gordon hitting a home run, which was (and still is) a very emotional moment for him and his teammates, and baseball fans alike.

Mike Piazza’s HR won the first sporting event in NYC following 9/11. The Mets were trailing in the bottom of the 8th against Braves in a pennant race. Thousands of firemen who’d lost friends at the Trade Center lost their minds in the stand when Piazza’s ball went out. . Prior to the game, the Mets and Braves players embraced. The Braves starter was from NYC, so was the guy who gave up the HR to Piazza. The bat is in Cooperstown. Everyone screaming ‘USA.’ That’s my no 1.

Been to some MLB games but not many since I'm younger, and I gotta say the most memorable moment I had was when I was living in Washington and went to watch the Mariners and it was Kyle Seagers last game. He got called off the field and got a standing ovation with cheering and yelling and whistling from all the fans. The Mariners were playing the Angels and even their fans were cheering. When he was in the dugout, everyone in the stands started chanting his name in unison. I remember it echoing around the stadium and feeling goosebumps. He came back out to be given the 3rd base and the crowd erupted again. You could see tears in his eyes as he turned towards the crowd. Even tho we were losing to the Angels, that's my favorite MLB game I have ever been to.

(disclaimer: I am a Jays fan just outside Toronto, and was watching the game live) The Bautista home run needs to be watched in the context of the entire inning which was over an hour long and full of emotion from both sides. Top of the inning had a throw by Jays catcher Martin to second go off the batter's bat, and allowed the go-ahead run to score. Umpire review held the call of no batter interference. Three errors by the Rangers in the bottom half, should have ended the inning before Bautista even came to the plate. Every other team sport has celebrations for great plays. This was easily a top 10 moment in baseball history. It was bat flip worthy.

That first one reminds me of Dale Earnhardt Jr winning at Daytona right after his father died on the same track in the last lap in the Daytona 500. Earnhardt Sr was playing defense and protecting his son and Michael Waltrip in 1st and 2nd place when he made contact with a car behind him and he smashed into the wall at full speed. Jr winning that race is incredibly emotional to watch. Same with Dee's homerun.
