@@aznpokering4184 yep. If you run hot and then get an overlay of a KZbin channel or you can sell books or courses, you can use that income stream to get coaching and catch up to the autistic zoom grinders... At least far enough to crush live high stakes games that you can use your personality or reputation to talk your way into. It's a narrow path but some can take it. There are very, very few "pure" grinders who just did nothing but play poker and move up and now live well. Especially not in today's games. Maybe 12 years ago. I'm not saying poker is dead or some shit like that, but we're talking about making fuck you money off skill alone, and while that is still possible, it's the hardest hard way and you're probably going to need considerable talent as well as catching the right transitions at the right time in your life. Much easier to turn yourself into a brand/business. And far less dark/lonely/monotonous.

Not to mention the difficulty of playing this OOP against 4 players. I think it’s better to give up and use the $120 for future EV.

the last time i said that the guy had a royal straight flush
@Jermo4842 жыл бұрын
The AQ straight hand is an odd river sizing to me. Wouldn't a smaller bet just always be better? He probably isn't ever calling the $3000 with worse than a Q and if you bet something like $1000, isn't he just going to raise you to $3000+ if he has a Q anyway? Then you make at least as much against a queen and still make something against two pair or a set (or maybe 87). Unless you have some very specific, very consistent read on this guy that he'll just always flat a less than pot bet with second nuts or won't ever call with a weaker hand here anyway.
@anthonyp58632 жыл бұрын
No. He isn’t. Calling with anything except a Q anyway so why not fire big? If you can bet 2x pot and get your opponent to fold the second nut straight you will be able to abuse and exploit him sooo much in future hands. You also have to do the math. If he calls 3k 50% of the time you make 1.5k. If he calls 1k 75% of the time you make 750. Easy
@feaster84172 жыл бұрын
I'm curious about your comments on the AA hand early in the vlog. When the board came 765 two-tone I feel like aces are still very much in the lead a lot of the time, even though you said that you likely didn't have the best hand anymore. Overbetting to take down the pot makes a lot of sense to me, as further streets have a lot of opportunity to improve your opponents hands. Am I wrong for playing like this in these spots?
@alec42622 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you’re wrong. Usually that’s a draw heavy board and I think it’s important to heavily charge your opponent for those draws depending on who you’re playing against of course. I’m not a pro by any means though so would like to hear others opinions!!
@eddyshasha19962 жыл бұрын
The way I see it is that a over bet (maybe not as big as he did it) is giving strong draws oes + flush a bad price to call. If they do, he makes them play a -ev move. On the next two streets it’s very likely Mariano has reverse implied odds as his hand has very little shot of improving. That’s my two cents of why I big raise here makes sense

Most poker vloggers, including Mariano, share that information periodically. Either annually or semi-annually and they typically show their wins/losses by month. I have never seen a poker vlogger share updates like that every month. But who knows, maybe someone is out there doing that.
@life2.0beginandwin672 жыл бұрын
@@markjklein Ofcourse, but, I truly find it fascinating, and also one of the hardest things for any human to stomache, and that is the swings in "no limit hold 'em". Your opponent who called off 3k to split a 1.2k pot isn't very bright. I mean, that is POKER 101: Never call massive over-bets to potentially SPLIT a pot. Mariano might have been bluffing on the turn, just REPPING the queen when he bet 500$. HOWEVER, once the RIVER WAS A BLANK, his "bluffing" potential went down to about 0%. Nobody bluffs into the second nuts.
