I am French and i have read a lot about frev. I have very much enjoyed this series even if its a take focusing on relationships. Louis was 192 cm tall, very smart and educated. He has been very successful in his foreign and military policy, especially in developing his royal navy. He has always been very interested and aware in the scientific field. He already had vaccinated his family against smallpox (his grandfather died from this disease). He has been a patron for the French Sign Language and numerous scientific inventions like hot air balloons and so on.He had abolished torture. He had a very good heart and always made the French people well- being a priority. The problem is that he has struggled to do the reforms to implement tax among the nobility because they pressured him for not doing it. And all the French revolution has been manipulated by the elite who could never get the power over France because this power was into the King's hands only. The only way to get this power was to break the King. They started the propaganda against him with lampoons, caricature portraits. They also created artificial shortages of bread in order to create riots among the lower class. Our french republic is a masonic scam built on the King's murdering.

Some doubt that they loved each other. I want to remind you that Marie Antoinette could run alone 2 times, but she refused to do it without her husband. Louis also refused to run alone, because he knew that all the anger would fall on her, the French called her "L'Autrichienne".

@@lumiere7216Sorry, I see no comparison with Markle, who has been proven to tell lies and embellishments about the Royal family, just as her husband Harry has been proven to have lied as well. Nothing at all to do with Marie Antoinette and her ultimate fate. She was just a child when she was forced to leave her country and marry Louis-Auguste. Markle was a grown woman of the world, well into her thirties. She went into the Royal family willingly and disliked the fact that she actually had to work, and would always be under William and Catherine (and the Wales' children) in the order succession and protocol. She couldn't deal with that.

Such a beautiful edit and wonderful music!!🤧❤️ I truly love these two!💖 Their relationship may have started rocky in the beginning, but they ended up loving and caring for eachother. Louis always tried to be a good King & husband and Marie always stood by his side and supported him no matter what. I love that the show shows more of their relationship and the difficulties that occured between them, but how it blossomed in true love. Usually their relationship isn't much shown in other series or movies. Louis and Marie truly understood eachother and the pain that they both shared: they both felt lost and others expected too much of them. One thing I love about Louis XVI is that he never cheated on his wife and didn't fall in love with his wife, because of her beauty (Marie Antoinette was known for her stunning beauty), but rather her personality✨ One thing is for sure, Marie Antoinette may have cheated on Louis, but Louis will always be her true love, and Marie will always be Louis' true love. THEY ARE SUCH AN UNDERRATED ROMANTIC COUPLE AND THEY DESERVE MORE VIDEOS!!💗💗😍

This is such a wonderful comment! thank you very much. This series definitely made me look at them in a different way, so much so that I have been looking up docs about their lives. I truly never realised just how crazy the whole situation was. They truly are underrated, if people mention them a majority of the time it is due to an untrue quote or because of the revolution. They ended up respecting each other. Perhaps with this new series more people will edit videos about them? I HOPE SOOOOO! 💜

I'm pretty sure she didn't cheat, she barely had any time alone and would not sleep out, and would be dressed by ladies in waiting, that was another reason many ladies had attendees in Christendom, to help protect their reputation (witnesses etc.). So no, I don't think she cheated, there was no evidence, and it was a rumour that came about more in modern media (thanks hollywood).
@mysticalmargaret6105 Жыл бұрын
There's no solid evidence that Marie Antoinette cheated on her husband though. The letters to Count Ferson show a deep friendship but that doesn't mean that Antoinette committed adultery against Louis. The letters were also copied and edited by Ferson himself in the years after Louis and Antoinette's tragic deaths. None spell out that they were ever having an affair. Sadly, he himself tried to save their lives, driving the carriage to the border himself - until they were discovered. 🥺

It looks lovely, but if you have read history and know what their relationship was really like, the whol narrative of a love story between Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI comes crumbling down, unfortunately=/ But that's not strange in an arranged marriage after all. I'm glad she was able to experience love in Axel von Fersen though. that was more than most queens of that time period had.
@xmonarch. Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it’s a shame but a norm, pretty much majority of ‘period drama ships’ that I edited with factually haven’t had much love between one another, but those shows sure make you forget that! Lol Louis and Marie ended up respecting one another near the end of their lives but historically there wasn’t much ‘love’. However in the BBC series it’s portrayed as more over the top. That’s the danger of watching series like that, it’s a great fantasy but in the end uses real historic figures :/ still a great binge fest!
@kimm.8800 Жыл бұрын
@@xmonarch. I agree, that's a problem when you are informed - as a historian I cringe at most period dramas nowadays, but I try to just enjoy it as fiction! Though it is a shame in a way that they ignore the reality of arranged marriages; indirectly, they are promoting the custom by basically saying arranged marriages can lead to love. Antoinette and Louis did become friendly eventually and had a good relationship as friends/colleagues, and by all accounts Louis did at the end fall in love with her, but they were very unsuited for each other and he was far from her taste (he did not look like that, haha). What still amazes me is that people who like Marie Antoinette "defend her against the accusations of cheating with Axel von Fersen". They are being very silly, because they are essentially saying that they don't know the marriage was arranged, that it would be wrong to "cheat" in an arranged marriage, and that they would think less of her if they did, so their position says a lot about them.
@xmonarch. Жыл бұрын
@@kimm.8800 oh absolutely. Can’t imagine how difficult it can be as a historian to watch something be ‘butchered’ but I think your outlook on it is great. They use real names etc but really it’s like 99% fiction. I do think that if people are interested they should read up and research on the actual history rather then think any of those series are what actually happened. I guess people prefer to watch something dramatic and overly romantic. Ha ha, those actors and their costumes make most of historic series/movies so much more appealing!
@xmonarch. Жыл бұрын
Oh and just to add to your point, it’s ironic that other movies/series etc that have this cheating romance is seemed great, but when it’s an arrange marriage, majority are seemed as ‘villains’.
@historygirl0126 Жыл бұрын
Actually, there is plenty of evidence that both Louis AND Marie Antoinette grew to love and respect one another. There was love between them. It’s hard for our modern selves to imagine this but it’s true. My issue with the Fersen affair is less of a moral conundrum and more to do with the fact that there’s just no concrete evidence for it. I think to many people it’s the romantic scenario. They hope that she was able to experience passionate love with someone else. But these are our own projections and 21st century sensibilities. She would not have viewed her circumstances in this way. This is not to say that she didn’t perhaps have romantic feelings toward Fersen but I do not believe the relationship became physical. There was too much risk. And she did sincerely love her husband. Yes, Louis was awkward and they weren’t always on solid footing, especially in the beginning, (they were very different people), but in the important ways, they were similar. Most of the proponents of the affair use shallow arguments revolving around “Louis was ugly” and Axel Fersen was “sexy” which really discredits everyone in the situation.
