What is holding me back is. the belief that I am not smart enough to take care of my money issues

Money beliefs that have been holding me back: "Money is scarce." "That's expensive." When I spend money, I will start to look at it as a transaction of value. I am giving money in order to receive something that I value. I will remind myself every day that I am valuable and abundant. I attract money into my life because I add an abundance of value to the world and the people around me! Thank you for sharing this knowledge and encouragement!

"No one will value you more, than you value yourself." Powerful quote. Great information Marie and Kate. Thanks.

It is a powerful quote, however, it is not correct. Fortunately, there are people who see value in others and their contributions. And there CAN be people who value someone more than they value themselves. And I'm sure if you think about it, you've heard or whitnessed those stories, too. Yes, there might not be man of them. And most of the time its our close friends and relatives. But even "out in the world" there can be strangers, who value what you have to offer. It's just that you shouldn't rely on these few people to show up. But in my opinion, it's not good to cement the believe that those people can't or won't exist at all. When you meet one of these, be open and grateful.

The bad money belief is this: If you are a good person, money will just come to you and you don't actually have to be responsible about it or pursue it in any way. The change I could make: Stop believing that because it's obviously not true because there are so many good, beautiful, wonderful people who don't have money.

Wow..."3 things you value yourself and 3 things you add value to somebody that day"...write them in your journal...that is such a revelation. i started writing Daily Journal because of my Dad's passing last months when he wrote on 12/17/2015 in his journal "i thank my son (me) whom took me to happy birthday breakfast this morning". i wrote only about whatz up what's happenning but never about others or people i add value to...

I always have this fear deep inside of me when it comes to looking at my bank account or looking at the amount of debt I owe due to school. When I look at my bank account I right away compare it to the amount of debt I owe crumbling inside I start to think 'I will never get through this debt' or 'I need more money to even make a dent in my debt and still be happy doing things I love to do in life'. This video has changed the way I think and I have made my first financial budget planning out how I can control my debt and still be who I am and do what I love!!! The money belief I had that was holding me back, was to think that working in something other than my passion was a detriment to my freedom. And then I realised that only working in my passion didn’t give me any freedom, because I had no money to enjoy my life and being free... For many of us, make money from our talents take many years, and now I’m finally manifesting that abundance, but also I had to get a normal job a few days a week. I feel happy to receive money from multiple areas!! I had to change the perception freedom/work to be able to start receiving money and abundance to my life... It was such an amazing shift!!

Greetings Marie, just discovered your channel 18 minute ago, heartfelt topic that needed to be spoken about. This discussion definitely pierced through some stone-wall ideals I've somehow carried with me without awareness. The disguised for me was that those I'v deemed as financial stable had someone to help them along the way! My resolve to the matter is, I desire a better story then suffering without a cause. We all go through challenges BECAUSE we are advancing to a better version of ourselves. You BOTH have been enlightening the process. Thanks

I have been working on changing this thing I say all the time... "I'm not a lucky person." Though I have always held that I make my own luck... Just saying out loud that I'm not a lucky person seems to be a terrible thing that stands in my way. I feel this is part of the "Not being enough" concept that I do know plagues me. So there it is I AM A LUCKY PERSON, because I am enough, I am smart enough, I am strong enough,I am committed enough, and I really deserve good things... AND I DO make my own LUCK!!

Amazing, I grew up a coptic orthodox christian and they keep on saying "the love of money is the root of all evil" now I understand it doesn't literally mean that way, and that it means loving money for selfish unhealthy reasons is the root of all evil. As for money and spirituality was still kind of a limiting belief to me because again I grew up in an environment that denies anything materialistic and life joys and in the same time says it's okay to go after getting better financially and it caused me confusion to be honest, but as Kate said I'm going to start seeing money as a way of adding value now. Thanks Marie and Kate :)

Thank you. Profoundly grateful for this episode. One money belief holding me back is my past. I am from a small town of poverty, welfare, and breeding like wild fire. Although I haven't lived there for almost 18 years and have found my purpose I am still holding myself back from earning income. Logically I know that I am not my past, I have cut chords in meditations, yet still when it comes to connecting to receiving money I my throat chakra swells and feel like I'm swallowing a rock. You are giving me tools to begin healing a painful money past and began living in the value of my potential and values. Just by watching you two do it!

First off, I've stumbled across your site by accident. I cannot express how lucky I am to do so! Your videos and blogs are helping me to look at myself honestly. Though uncomfortable most of the time, it is a task I must do to not only recognize issues I face or don't face, but to also make the necessary steps to change myself and my future. Thank you Marie! In response to your video, "Change Your Money Beliefs", I feel that I am not smart enough to do anything. I appreciate the suggestions made by Kate Northrup in keeping a value journal and writing three things that I value about myself, or the value I add to others' lives. With this, I look forward to gaining the confidence to move forward and making bigger steps towards my goals. A side note, I'll be watching your videos and reading your blogs daily. It really helps me to face my fears and to discredit the lies I tell myself. Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

A belief that keep holding me back is "you're going to have a huge unhappiness feeling and mental pressure when you have a lot of money" coz I saw many ppl around me was unhappy even when they have a load of money. And I'm trying to relearn about living in abundance including watching this. Coz actually I have a lot to feel abundance for, but lately, i seems forget about it. And I really think that I'm not living my life and not being myself because I was trapped with my financial situation right now. Thanks for this topic that you brought up, this really help me to understand better of respecting the value of myself

yeah, those are the thoughts to let go of...let just pass through your mind and then counter with the complete opposite thoughts until the opposite thoughts are the ones that pop up more in your mind. If you worry about those things and think those thoughts, you can only continually attract the same things you think. Hope in the past 10 mos. you've found a way to think different and attract differently. If not, employ the method above immediately and change your life. Lack is a lie. the energy of life is abundance until we are born into a life where people have poverty mentality and/or we have a poverty mentality. We can have an abundant mentality and find that things flow into our life that have less to do with money and more to do with 'having everything we need and want in abundance'.

1: That I am not good, skilled, or at the same level as the people that make enough money ("enough") according to my own standards. Like money was somehow out of my reach. But this value exchange just shifted my perspective. I feel like a click was made in my heart and head. 2: Well the first action would be to sign up on a platform to put my art-work out there and basically offer value to the world. I will also continue with some classes to increase my value.

I think this is my absolute fave MarieTV video! I'm pretty sure what's holding me back from fulfilling my best potential is the fact that I'm afraid of not having money and thinking I'm not good with money at the same time. Money is always a topic I swerve around or try to think about indirectly. I've never been in a place of financial freedom (mentally or otherwise) so a constant fear and apprehension lurks around.

My limiting belief: I am not smart/clever enough to make a lot of money or enjoy wealth. (one of the limiting phrases that Kate mentioned in the video!) And the most ironic part of this is that I have held jobs where my sales record is the highest in the company! But my upbringing and going back to my family business and falling back into our old family roles and dynamics has been killing my self-esteem. I am taking action now from Marie's videos to own my self-worth, to believe that I can make good money and eventually have wealth, and to say bye bye to my family business and be bold enough to pursue my own business.

One belief I have gotten better at but is STILL holding me back it that I believe I am not worthy of spending money on myself OR I always sort of minimize the value I provide with my business. Great video! There's this thing people can do to help get rid of their CCs faster: Debt Snowball. You start with the smallest balance card first, add a set amount of extra you're paying on it every month. When it's paid off, move that amount of payment over to the next credit card. The amount of money you're paying on each goes up exponentially as the smaller one is paid off.

Wow...this really opened my eyes in so many ways...too many to comment here but the main part for me was my self value...I realized just in this video (which is my new favorite and that I wrote notes on pretty much word for word) is how important it is for me to value myself and the talents, life skills, wisdom I do have to offer others!! I will definately will be creating a 'Self Value' Art Journal and also be checking my account every day!! Thanks to both Marie and Kate for this (for me) life changing teaching!! God bless you both!

I love talking about money. I agree it is a tool to get things done. And I agree that $$ is neither negative nor positive. It's a vehicle to show up more fully in our purpose. Excellent interview & insight.

My husband and i spent the first 6 years of marriage in huge financial need. Anytime something extra came up such as a car repair or buying a car or kids clothes etc we needed help from his parents. My grandma helped as well and was more understanding. My grandma also gave us the opportunity to work for the money which felt more like an even exchange, although she was very generous in her payment for our work. My inlaws however would not let us work for their gift which I understand and am thankful for. Its just that their gifts always cane with strings attached. I didnt work because we got pregnant right away and also had health problems. Inlaws would scoff at my health issues and gossip with other family asking “why doesnt she get a job??” There was never good communication. It really hurt to need their help yet hate excepting it. I was just earlier talking about this with my husband. A big fear surrounding wealth is what it will do to our relationship with his parents. Even apart from money it is not a good relationship. We feel limited and misunderstood by them. Again their is very poor communication. We try but they wont open up or seek to understand. They want peace without doing the work. We cant just pretend because nothing will change. We will still “say the wrong thing” and it be taken the wrong way and vice versa. Anyway we have gone back and forth for the past 3 years on whether or not to cut ties. Financial freedom would allow and much cleaner cut from them but i dont want them to think our reason for no longer communicating with them is because of money and us not needing theirs. Thats not what the relationship is about. Many other things are wrong. But they would believe money was the only reason we kept talking if money is what allows us to leave.

My holding back belief is that if I charge for all of the time that I'm putting in, the customer will leave because they are spending too much money, so I don't charge for all of my time.

I enjoyed every minute of this. What’s been holding me back is because I’ve been so caught up in trying to focus on the “positive” aspects of life, I’ve been avoiding things like my credit score or the amount of money in my bank account. I’ll make it a habit to look at my account every morning and link that visual and feeling to 3 things that I’m grateful for. Thanks!

just had an epiphany while watching this, sometimes the reason why we want to let someone else take care of things for us (point #1) is a feeling of being not enough...that really resonated, finally shed light on some long standing behavior...can't thank you enough for discussing this topic!

I watched this video last night and knew it needed a second viewing so I had breakfast with you two this morning! I definitely struggle with believing that I am enough and love the actionable advice to write down three ways I added value every day. I have a day planner on my nightstand now specifically for that purpose...giving attention to the positive actions I'm already taking so that more will come!

The one thing that held me back is that I felt like I could not be successful and be alone (no family I could trust, love or fall back on). I felt like everyone who had a family had an edge over me. Time to work seemed to be overwhelming because "I had to do everything by myself". The one action I can take to demonstrate that I am ready for a new belief is to not be afraid. :) Aww gee . . . What a revealing 20 awesome minutes this was.

I just saw this. I have started implementing the looking at your finances and I don't do it every day but I have noticed more freelance jobs coming in. No money yet but it may have a lot to do with that. I didn't even think of that. I'll bump it to every day and see what happens. Thanks - and I'm in Bschool class of 2019

Hello Marie ok well here is my limiting belief thats been holding me back. That like you mentioned I feel like I should not focus on material possessions or acumulating wealth instead I should focus on my spirituality. How I will change this: By realizing that without money I can not be spiritual because I am too worried and stressed about my financial situation. I also can not help others who are in need and I can not reach my full potential. Hard work is spiritual being honest and working towards my goals is spiritual and it is what I need to do to make a real difference in the world. Thank you for this video I loved it and I loved Kate Northrup please have her on regularly. This helped me so much you dont even know. Hugs :)

Money is hard to earn and you'll never have financial freedom. I think nipping those thoughts right when they come up is important. I need to be more aware of the thoughts I allow my mind to entertain and focus on. Love the video!

Hi Maria I have the same limiting beliefs! In fact when I started earning money more 'easily' I felt guilty and unconsciously sabotaged myself. I'm the one holding myself back and until I can let go of what doesn't serve my higher purpose I will not achieve the next level

I Love watching strong, intelligent, Empowering women!!! You ladies are Fabulous! I can't believe I found you Marie. I am a hairstylist who Loves empowering women and promoting the power of thought. My major issue is not believing I can make a lot of money. My father always told me I would end up working a fast food restaurant. I am really working on myself and my fears when it comes to financial success. Thank you so much for putting yourself out there and helping people learn how to get their thoughts together...and your too funny....lol xo
