She isn't hating on men she is being scared from men. Since she is scared she becames defensive, she feels like she has to protect herself and her loved ones. Obviously it isn't healthy, but hating her for this is the same as hating on someone who gets scared from small places or spiders.

i don't understand people who hate on mariko. especially men who mock women like mariko (women who hate men). her hate might be exagurated, but it's not out of place. i don't condone hatred or violence against either sex (men or women). but there are reasons why some women out there despise men so much to the point of unhealthy hatred. they should not be mocked, but rather helped. they are mostly speaking from experience, horrible, horrible experience with men (just like mariko's situation).

I think it's important to note that much of Mariko's views on men are deeply influenced by the hurt brought on upon her and her mother by her father, and exacerbated by her general instability. While it's not always justified, I definitely understand where she's coming from, though. That said, most of the few male characters in this show are non-malicious, I mean Takashi literally saves her life at one point. But she's 16, so I can only imagine that it's all a part of her arc.
