@K S: Yes, Marilyn had a pretty voice, but she had lung problems and couldn't really belt things out. Her breathy singing WAS NOT an act. She didn't have lung capacity. I think today she would have been diagnosed with COPD.

@@Missditabomb where did you read she had lung problems? She just didn't have the pipes
@Missditabomb5 жыл бұрын
@@marilynking3350 Marilyn was CONSTANTLY being treated for "respiratory" illnesses and they weren't fake. She smoked. (It was hidden from public view, but she smoked off and on.) She had x-rays, (which were later sold, of course), taken of her chest and lungs because her doctor(s) felt it was warranted. Her breathy voice in speaking was half act and half NECESSITY. Marilyn had weak lungs!! I have a zillion Marilyn Monroe books and it wasn't so much the books putting it all together, but me coming to that conclusion based on the medical information in the texts. I come from a family with serious lung diseases and issues, so I have a bit of knowledge in this area. I hope this answers your question. Blessings to you, Marilyn King. Just as a P.S.: Yes, her singing voice was weak, but where a song called for tenderness, Marilyn nailed it.

Some people mentioned that her voice is so different in this one. Check out Scudda Hoo Scooda Hay! That was Norma Jean's voice. She gave up on that really fast. I love Marilyn! She created the greatest movie icon in the history of movies! Wonderful!

I like Marilyn's natural voice, it's certainly no less pretty than the breathy speaking style she used later.

True! You should hear her last interview to Life Magazine, 3 days before "they" "suicided" her. You listen to her and as the reporter noticed, that was not a suicidal girl talking to him. Her voice is like music and her laugh makes you smile with her. Her last words "Don't make me a joke" followed by laughter. He said he looked back and she waved good bye. Her photographer who was making a book with her had an appointment for the following Monday. You should listen to that voice. It is not too breathy actually, it is very natural. Anyway, a big fan and admirer here! Regards!

The studios created MM, not Norma Jean. The studios owened that iconic symbol, that's why they decided to kill her, cause they knew she would worth more dead, and being eternally young. She was a product, not a person, her real persona was forever lost.
@Missditabomb5 жыл бұрын
@@EduardoBuenoamigo In later years, Richard Meryman, (Yes, one "R" in Meryman), the interviewer from Life magazine, said that Marilyn was unstable. He said Marilyn bounced from subject to subject and from MOOD to MOOD. She would be happy and buoyant and then she would switch to angry, sad and paranoid. (All while drinking champagne even though her doctors considered her an alcoholic.) Marilyn was a WRECK in her last 4 years of life, (and especially in her last two years), sadly. Nothing could have saved this woman. She was too ill and there was no treatment for a woman with her "issues". She was bi-polar and is suspected of having Borderline Personality Disorder. They can barely treat those illnesses TODAY, let alone in the 50's and 60's. Rest in Love, dear Marilyn. REST IN LOVE.

she looks beautiful. her singing on 'file my claim' was so very good, some of her best work! but as for her speaking, her acting coach natasha had her do this exaggerated pronunciation and breathy thing, and the effect was so contrived and almost comical. they also told her to be sure her smile didn't expose the gums above her front teeth. too bad she was made to abandon the natural voice she had in years before this.
