I'm having my second chemo treatment today and all my hair already fell out from the first treatment. I cried so hard but I know living is the most important thing. I didn't mean to be so vain. I wonder if it is traumatic for others to lose their hair too. Anyway, thank you for all the tips you share. I have five more treatments to go including today and then I'll have surgery, radiation and a year of chemo meds. I have invasive metastatic triple positive grade 2 ductal carcinoma. I pray for healing for all of us who are fighting cancer battles !!!! And I pray for continued healing for you !!!! 🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪

Hi Trish! Absolutely it is hard to lose your hair. It’s not vain. It’s an outward vulnerability for cancer fighters. Try a wig or hair wrap but don’t feel bad about feeling bad. Yes, losing your hair means your chemo is working but it’s okay to be unhappy about losing your hair. I hope it grows back wonderfully someday!

Hi Trish, I have triple positive grade 2 ductal carcinoma too. I found out two weeks ago and have a similar treatment plan as you. I’m waiting to get my chemo start date. In the meantime watching all of Marinas videos to prepare. Sorry you had a hard go of things with losing your hair, I’ll be praying for you too ❤

I unexpectedly cried when my hair started falling out a week after my first infusion. I thought I was prepared because I’d had a major haircut a few months before my diagnosis, but a lot of it had grown back. I thought awhile and realized maybe I cried because of the way it fell out, out of my control and clumps in the shower over just a few days! I looked a mess, with bald spots all over my head. After considering whether I would go for a proper haircut or buy clippers, I looked around my bathroom and found a very nice women’s body razor I had never used. I cut the clumps still on my head with scissors, then shaved my head with the razor. My head is very smooth and symmetrical, so I felt good about that! I’m a hat person anyway, so I found some nice thin caps, suitable for sleeping and hot summer wear, at Walmart online, but there are endless options with other online merchants. I hope you and others find some comfort in how you handle your hair loss because it’s a big, painful deal for many of us and we have more than enough to worry about. Thank you Marina, for inspiring me to write and maybe help someone else on this journey. You are invaluable!

Bonus tip: Try to take notes of your side effects every day starting from day 1 of first cycle. It's sort of journaling which in itself brings clarity and focus and it helps you avoid some mistakes and do more of things that worked, on your next cycles. Then after the first, scariest cycle it is more like "Okay I have this feeling now, as I should as it's day 3, this will be easier tomorrow." etc.

I’m 32 no kids with stage 3 breast cancer and it’s not in my family. I was diagnosed on Valentine’s Day. I’m on my 3rd chemo treatment tomorrow. Mine are every Monday. I shaved my head a week ago after my first session and my sister shaved hers with me. 😭 I didn’t wanna cry seeing my hair fall out. I do have wigs I’ve had them for years and I’m able to wear them. I have hats and scarfs as well I use. My friends and family send me care packages which is nice too. I’m always sleepy some days I’m up by night time I’m out. Sometimes I feel weak and what not too. I’ve been on a diet since I started chemo. and I have been eating a lot lately. I’ve had nausea once or twice and my knees hurt my first week. I already knew I was gonna be 6 months sober, no sugar or fried and greasy foods. I have my second chemo in July which is the strongest one. Yall aren’t alone and will beat it!! Prayers to others going through this as well. Stay strong ladies. 🙏🏼❤️

The thing is with chemotherapy; there are so many. My first regime on carbo taxil and radiotherapy I was constantly fatigued. The steroids they put me on made me feel like I was in a different time zone. Not sleeping at night. Now I am on folfox and also taking ondasatine which is helping with sleeping at night. There is a lot of research now which says if you do exercise it helps combat fatigue. Go for a brisk walk. Shadow box. Do step ups. Remembering that everyone is different and to combat fatigue you have to find what works for you.

Great video. Wow.. This is my first time watching this video and she is right. I did the same things she is suggesting by the grace of God. I am going on my 11th treatment of chemo out of 12. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February of this year. I Had tumor/ part of my colon removed and 26 lymph nodes removed because the tumor pushed through my stomach wall. 6 out of the 26 lymph nodes was cancerous. Unfortunately shortly after my diagnoses a friend of mines was going through a very similar thing. However she was experiencing more negative side effects. I started my chemo a month before her and had done some research. Long story short... to late 😊. I did everything this video said(with out knowing because I never saw it until now) and my symptoms from chemo was the same as my friends but more tolerable. So she started implementing some of the things I was doing and her side effects began to improve. I increased my fruit(especially fruit) vegetables, and protein. Cut way back on red meat and processed meat( to basically none at all but I'm getting there). Also cut back alcohol like she said. It's a toxicant and dehydrates you. I also drank certain teas, added lemon water to my diet, Gatorade and made sure I had healthy gut foods like Greek yogurt resistance starch etc. Our health begins in our stomach. Do things that strengthen your Immune system. I hope my comment and this video will help others. God Bless. Fighters keep fighting. ❤

I am with you, I have also always been so energized and active, and the guilt that comes with having constant fatigue is palpable. My wise young niece said,”Think of it this way - this is what you have to do now to get well and have a full life after you’re cured. So, while it’s annoying, it’s the best way you can help yourself.” I try to exercise as I can on the days that aren’t so bad and just go with what I need on the rough days. If you have children, it’s harder I’m sure - I’m 75, so no close obligations. Chin up, hang in, do what you can for now and rejoice in the rewards of the future. You got this! 💕

thank you for your awesome tips Marina! sending you positive vibes. I'm going through chemo myself for follicular lymphoma and learned from other people what also really helps with energy is eating mostly raw plant based. I find Korean ginseng tablets to help on my really low energy days and of course allowing myself to rest and sleep as much as I need and exercise when I'm feeling good, though I don't have children so that's easier to do! I've learned that dairy is linked to breast cancer, and processed meat is classified as a 2A carcinogen by the WHO. The doctors say follicular lymphoma is incurable (by conventional medicine but I've read some people have been cured, they just don't know how), and I am at risk for breast cancer as well so I decided to cut all animal products. There are many people who had stage 4 cancer who went completely whole food plant based and survived cancer now for many years when the conventional treatments were ineffective. I find plant based easier, cheaper, and more colourful and delicious! I also cut out alcohol before seeing your video. it's not so hard when I drink a variety of yummy teas. Also there are some good alcohol free beers and sparkling wines I have in moderation. I've cut out sugars including honey and maple syrup which feed cancer cells and give them energy. Not sure if you've heard of Anita Moorjani, but she had a spontaneous remission from lymphoma. She's a best selling author and also has a youtube channel. she is soooo inspiring, as are you :)

My boss’s mother lived for nearly 5 years after she was diagnosed with the same. She threw herself into every possible clinical trial and new development she could be a part of, and it definitely bought her extra time. She had fire energy, but also a very robust, loving, supportive family. Do what you can to let your grandma know that you are there for her and will help her anyway you can, so she doesn’t feel that she’s a burden and she can maybe try some riskier, medically-driven protocols that might just really help her and all of you.

I started chemo for breast cancer in June. I am 75 years old, no history in my family, I’m the first. It’s triple negative, so challenging, and fatigue is by far my worst side effect. I can take the nausea and the sore mouth, but I hate being so useless. How you as a young woman with young children do this I cannot know. You are amazing, you’re beautiful, you are so strong and centered for one so young - you’ve got this and you’re going to make it! You are an inspiration and I wish you and your family the very, very best! 🙄

So it looks like I am already doing some of the things mentioned so I'm proud of myself. Food has been tough because of all the taste changes so at this point, I just eat what I can slightly enjoy but not focused on bad eating either. I honestly need to do better with getting back into taking walks but this heat has been relentless! Next week will be my 5th round of 6. This 4th one was the worst of it as far as the fatigue is concerned so I'm trying to be positive and focus on the fact that it hasn't really been bad until this one. I really hope that biopsy shows nothing is wrong. Thank you for your videos!

You’re right. It can be hard to eat well during treatment. Do your best! Fatigue does get worse. Make sure they are checking your labs/bloodwork for low iron or wbc or neutrophils. I hope you get through your last one okay!

Hello , thanks for your videos very helpful. I am estrogen and progesterone + . I was diagnosed last year October with invasive ductal carcinoma and lobular . My initial treatment was to have chemo before surgery. I was skeptical about chemo and the oncotype test done only gave me 19% benefit so oncologist said not recommended. However, I did all the bone organ test , biopsies before surgery in May. During surgery I had 29 positive lymph nodes removed and chemo ACT treatment and radiation was recommended. I am now on my 3 rd infusion of 4 recommended AC and T I have to do every week x12. My experience hadn’t been too bad just low counts last 2weeks which was supposed to be my 3rd infusion. You have been a great help sharing your experience. My arm needs a lot of work to get it back to normal. I feel tightness , numbness In my Chest area and a bit swelling I guess seroma under lower arm surgery site also which is said to be normal. I’m hoping to return to work when starting taxol I’m hoping that it could be done. Thank you for your positive outlook on life despite our short comings. My hope , faith , family -husband and children along with positivity gives me strength to fight my battles. You are an inspiration. Blessings to you and your beautiful family.

Eat any food that you can take it in, Listen to your body when you need to rest go for rest nap if you need to naps. Active as much as you can, get up and do things when you can. Working with a holistic doctor for my breast cancer treatment, most of the foods she named I wasn't allowed to eat (except the berry family; I was allowed low glycemic fruits and vegetables). Most of what she named actually feed cancer! Doctor's don't take nutrition while in medical school and don't know the healing properties of food. Been cancer free almost five years with no side effects of conventional treatment or long-term side effects from conventional treatment.
