I was looking for more advanced than traditional finishes for zippered pockets. Those eyelids are cool. You should help us to break down the tailoring of brands like Arc'teryx. You are my woman for this stuff.

Two years ago I made a waistcoat for my husband and spent more time making the welt pockets (three hours for two pockets !!) than I did sewing up the rest. After watching these brilliant instructions I feel brave enough to try again. Thanks for sharing.

you are so welcome. When I was an apprentice I was so scared of welt pockets because they frayed and I got them not straight. Making garments for customers and very particular boss made that a nightmare for me. Although I can do them properly now, I show that next week, when I do them for kiddo clothing I do them the cheats way, no reason not to. 😉

You are right,it is an easy but classy technique. I was putting a zipper pocket in a tote bag lining but wasn't happy with the zipper placement so I made a set of "lips" from contrasting fabric and tucked them in where the zip would have been, stitched around as instructed and in a very short time had an end result I am very pleased with. This is so easy that it may become my default tote bag pocket finishing. Thank you so kuch for this excelent tutorial.

Marina, I love your Vlogs as the tutorials are always excellent. I think I would use these pockets for my mobile as they don't gape and would be easily accessible. If I did use it for that, i would put it on the rear of the bag, ie the side of the bag beside my body for safety. Its a lovely feature. Thank you again and keep the Vlogs coming as they are really appreciated.......... x

Glynis Higham great, seriously after I wrecked my brain thinking how can I make it easier and this method came up one day quite by accident, I thought why did I ever do it so complicated? However I did do a video on the traditional method too. for some stuff you just need it.
