Hi Maria!!!☺ I think what I found most fascinating was how animals know where to go when they migrate. I enjoyed seeing a marine biologist's perspective to finding dory! Great video😄

When seeing the squid that was chasing them, I felt it had more characteristics of a Humboldt Squid rather than a giant squid, what with its rapidly shifting color patterns and the location being in the eastern pacific.

One of the main thing I loved about this movie is the music. Especially the main theme. (The song played at the ending of the movie when dory and marlin are looking out into the distance.) It just sounds like what the ocean would if it was music.

Finding Dory is like one of my favorite movies EVER! How cute is baby Dory?!?! 🐟 Also, does anyone have any advice for Physics? I’m beginning it year and I already know it’s hard (having taken one quarter of it before) and I STRUGGLED!
@Seamemaria

Brenna Taylor The only advice I can think of is to try to really understand the theory behind everything. Not just kinda getting it or memorizing it, but really making sense out of all the basics. I know its easier said than done. For me it always helped to try to explain things out loud, either to a friend or to the void. Good luck! 😉

I know this is an old video, but I remembered a really interesting migration fact about monarch butterflies... at one point along their migration path, there's a huge lake. Part of the way across this lake, they take an unexplained detour to one side, before turning again and eventually getting back onto their path... there was nothing in the way, they could have gone straight across the lake, but they always, always flew this weird detour... And a bunch of geologists finally figured out that there used to be a MOUNTAIN there, but millions of years of geological shifting has resulted in there being a lake where the mountain used to stand. But the butterflies still have the 'memory' of the mountain being in the way, so they go 'around' the mountain.

The squid in the movie actually is a Firefly squid. They're pretty small. An average of 3 inches in length. They also possess the incredible ability to do counter illumination camouflage. When seen from below by a predator, the bioluminescence helps to match the squid's brightness and colour to the sea surface above.

The movie didn’t show this, but I have a small tiny head canon that they also took Kuroshio current, the North Pacific current and then the California current. I don’t know if if that changes things (probably not) but it’s to think about (at least from my perspective)🤷‍♀️.

First time commenting here (been a silent watcher all this time haha) I absolutely love this channel and all the effort you put in all of your videos ♡♡♡ I want to study Biology in uni but have no idea what I'll do afterwards. Watching you and other youtube channels makes me want to be a marine biologist. I am afraid I am attracted to the field by the 'glamour' though, and not because of an actual interest in marine life. That makes me worried. What I do have is an IMMENSE love for writing and science (and a weird obsession and curiosity towards the Mariana Trench) Do you have any advice for people who are unsure about the exact field of science (or bio in particular) they want to pursue?
@Seamemaria
@Seamemaria 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! That is a difficult question to answer, since usually the path one needs to take to understand what they want is very different between people. Marine biology is definitely glamorized in many situations, and I believe you should only pursue that career if you are really passionate about marine life. However it is hard to know whether you like it or not without really experiencing it. If you the only reason you want to be a marine scientist is the glamour of the profession than don´t do it. If you however you love marine life and want to study it, than maybe give it a chance. Sorry I can´t be of much help, but these are always very personal life paths one has to figure out by themselves ;) Good luck with whatever you end up doing! =)

The huge squid they encounter is a Humboldt squid (Dosidicus gigas), which makes sense, since the scene happens off the coast of California, while giant squids are a deep-ocean species, hence why it's almost exclusively known from dead specimens that washed up on beaches, plus a giant squid would be much larger compared to a clownfish and blue tang.

Rip currents are no joke, once you are in one unless you are a strong swimmer they are a bitch to get out of, and can be potentially lethal. I have been caught in a few and can be kinda scary, but it is not as bad if you do your research and learn how to get out of them.
