I was on duty as a young LCpl that day, and I will never forget the SgtMaj and Officers in the ready room saying this is terrorism! We’re going to war and all the combat deployments that followed.

I was stationed in Hawaii so it was about 3am for me. I was sleep as it was happening the corporal on duty was pounding on the doors waking up everyone. Everyone went to the rec room to watch the news. No one slept after that we all just got dressed for work, and ready for formation. That happened at 6am our time. A couple of months later we were in Afganistan. I was also a young Lcpl

its more han just something to think about seeing someone you never knew in your life,or that you knew bu either not that well,or they were quiet,never seemed like that guy but one day they go,"someone has to pay" and they join the marines the next day immediately to avenge the fallen. I am Marine that lived in the DC area on that day. Drove the beltway as the only vehicle in sight. It was eerie. What I can tell you, that is fact not opinion, is that those flags disappeared within a year of that horrible day. It shouldn’t take a terrible event to bring America together….temporarily. Something to think about.

My father was deployed in Cuba during 9/11 he was either a PFC or LCpl at the time and his platoon didn’t know what had happened like who the enemy was and he served during the major beginning parts of the war and he is really the main reason why the marine corps is a job option for me.
