Back in 97' in San Diego, our squad bay was on the first floor. It was the only floor with a pay phone. A buddy of mine was in the platoon above us and told me there was no phone outside their door. Needless to say I quickly memorized my phone card number. No need to dial an extension. But it was nerve racking tho. You never knew when some random DI was around. Surprisingly only a few of us knew about it and kept it to ourselves, only calling at night when we knew we were on fire watch. Good times.

My grandfather ( Vietnam vet) went to San Diego and he told me as punishment they used to have to punch the pavement until their knuckles were raw and another punishment was the D.Is made you stick your head in the toilet until you passed out then they would do cpr on you and bring you back, he later told me his D.Is got in a crap ton of trouble once their commanding officers ( excuse me if i use the wrong terminology ) found out about their actions

My best bootcamp story- There was a recruit who constantly had to go to the head...constantly. To the point we all thought he was doing it to get out of getting fucked with. Once while the heavy was doing his thing walking down the walkway between the racks and shouting this recruit interrupted him to ask to go to head. the heavy said no dont ask again. About 15 min later theres a puddle at this boots feet. lol. When asked what it was his answer was, "Sir this recruit pissed himself sir"

When I went to Encampment for CAP, we were doing a mock-SAREX. And we got MREs at the end for completing it, and this Lieutenant comes up to my flight and says to give him the candy in the MREs. Now, my a couple of my buddies were in a different spot because there was no more room where they were sitting, and my friends just eat all their candy so Lt. can't get to it. Me, I just hide mine in my BDU cargo pocket and give it to my Flight Sergeant at the end of the week. She fell over laughing.

I know they teach you but would it be better if I know how ahead of time or let the Marines teach me? I heard it would be better Marines teach you becasue of how they want you to shoot maybe diff from some hunter and stuff!

My whole life I wanted to be a military soldier and Iv bin planing for marines since I was 14. I’m gonna talk to a recruiter soon but I’m still in school.
