Lol devil my dad was a air force security in Vietnam and he was deployed in Khe Sanh during the siege and he has nothing but good things to say about marines

the word POG was actually not intended to carry any kind of derogatory or slanderish meaning for non-infantry marines. It was actually an acronym simply stated as "Personel Other than Grunts"

That is just now starting to happen, US Commanders have recently begun using JSOC assets to that extent but one of the big problems when I was in atleast was SF being used as a normal Infantry when I was in sometimes they would get tasked for HVT Raids but most of the time we saw them doing just normal infantry stuff

Air Force "Combat Airman" career feild is all Special Operations. PJ's, CCT's, TACP's, SOWT's, tho guys do see action. They get attached to actual combat units. PJ's are basically high speed medics, they are some bad mofo's but they are not out there to take lives. They are out there to save lives even if it means killing other people in the process. It's a demanding career field with very versatile group of guys who can take the role of a medic to a door kicking killing machine. I've tried out for PJ's and it's not for everyone. Hopefully I'll get another shot at it again soon.

I'm most likely going into MOS 0231 (moving laterally into MOS 0211). So yeah, I'm gonna be a POG, it's good to observe the enemy and their ways of fighting; it saves the lives of fellow Marines and that right there is contribution.

ARCblooper Yes you can actually. When you get to SOI after the first month there is what's called a weapons split. That's where you can pick which MOS you will actually fall under. So the 11's, 31's etc will receive their own training. Being an 0311 isn't bad when you are at SOI but in the fleet it's some bull shit. I casually hear good things about weapons however.

Every time I bring up to my parents about going to the military, my mom always says I should go the air force because they get paid better. Then my dad syas to go to the army because he was in it. And everytime I bring up about the Marines, they get pissed off at me and they don't talk to me thr rest of the day lol. I think it's because they know if I do, there's always the possibility of losing me.

First off, you should mention to your mom that every branch of the military gets paid the same amount. In the military, you get paid based on rank and a couple other variables like if you're in a war zone or if you're separated from your spouse. But for the most part, and E-1 in the Marines is going to get as much as an E-1 in the Air Force. I'm enlisted in the Marine Corps and I leave for boot camp next July, but the way I see it is that the Marines are the best of the best, that's why they're "the few. the proud." The only thing I can think of that would make you want to join the Army over the Marines is that in the Army, you can get your job guaranteed to you in your contract.But when it comes down to it, would you rather be a soldier or a MARINE? OOOOOOO MUTHAFUCKIN RAAAAHHH
@danielmegibben1659
@danielmegibben1659 10 жыл бұрын
Hey possible Devil pup. First off remember your family, tradition is at the heart of the Corps. That said it is true the USMC is underpaid all ranks are paid according to rank and time in service but the USMC has higher cuttings scores for promotions and do not get the specialist promotions given to the army (dunno about other branches). The Marine Corps is not about pay its about the honor of being a Marine. Marines are one rank below soldiers of the same billet for example an E4 Marine is supposed to be a teamleader vs an E5 Soldier being a teamleader. Join Marines to be the best of the best, join other branches for pay or benefits. - Battle of Marjah/ Sangin Veteran

I know this was a month ago but I just wanted to say that I know your pain man. I want to be a Navy SEAL and every time I bring it up my parents get pissed off and tel me to join the AF. I'm 18 and almost done with HS and I will study my ass off for the ASVAB test and prepare myself for BUD/S. Just wanted to say, do what YOU want to do.

AF SF aren't all bad. I know what you mean about the whole "blue beret" thing, but look, some where attached to ASOS as dog handlers, some real tier 1 stuff. I saw one guy had is ranger tab, but even he was a pararescue washout. And in the end, they do have their own Countersniper school, & have had airmen die in the line of duty. So, no real reason to look down on them, except for 90% of them are idiots.
@jonathandebona8934
@jonathandebona8934 9 жыл бұрын
his point about pararescue is they rarely ever get missions, not that they suck at their job. and ranger school doesnt make you a ranger, its just a school not a selection for a unit.

Why do the Air Force Special Forces always get left out or picked on. They have more types of special forces there than any other branch. This is the list I can think of there is Combat Controllers (who often can get detached to the Army Rangers, 1st Operational Detachment Force Delta aka Delta Force, Navy SEALs, Marines Force Recon,etc), AF Special Tactics, AF Foward Air Controller (although very similar to the Combat Controllers), and Pararescue. It's sad that most people don't know how awsome Air Force Special Ops are. Chances are if anywhere is being invaded by the air such as mass paradrops at least one spec ops operator is Air Force. Please before you comment read up on the Air Force. Yes Security Forces do brag alot, but please don't think Air Force Expeditionary is the same though.

CE's I saw (Army and Marines) just ran to cover while we engaged the enemy during ambushes. They had plenty of toys (trucks with CROWS systems even), but were hesitant to move once shooting started. Most wouldn't even scan with their thermals for targets (didn't want to move their truck and risk being exposed), and let us go in on foot to flush the enemy out. Some can hold their own, but most were fairly unimpressive. Either way, they're still POGs. Just POGs with bombs.

My brother is in the Air Force and he's a security forces guy.. But he's a K-9 handler. And he was on patrols with the army and the marines. And he was in fire fights. He got it on video. But he doesn't do what you said some of them do.

Is the wear and tear of the marine corps really bad? i.e. your hearing (explosions, gunfire), humps, and lack of sleep. stuff like that

A FMF MARDIV Corpsman is basically a Marine. A goal for them is to get the moniker "Doc" or "Devil Doc". They're in charge of field medicine and keeping you alive when you get fucked up. A Navy SARC ( Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen) is the same thing but more heavily trained for the more heavily trained Recon units they'd be assigned to.

go through and read American Sniper if you haven't, Chris Kyle[R.I.P] mentions how at one point he ended up puting down his rifle and grabbed an M4 and started breaching with Marines cause he was tired of seeing them come out injured being as he was trained for it better and had better equipment. But he says alittle something along the lines of "In the end were all equal, sure im better trained i may have better equipment but in the end im truly no better then anyone else"

DevilDog- how helpful do you think support is... As in Air Force aircraft support and mortar/Howitzer teams. Do you think that the infantry could win battles without them?

I love DevilDog's videos and after I graduate I plan on joining the Marines. Is there anyone in the reserves who can compare it to active duty? I was considering the reserves instead of active duty so i can still do an electrician's apprenticeship and serve at the same time. Any input would be helpful, thanks

Any preference on which one would you have rather served with?
