Marine Corps MOS School Barracks Tour

In the video, I give a brief room tour of my room here at NAS Pensacola where I am attending aviation Ordnance A-school for the Marine Corps. Also I go over my orders to my next location, my selected aircraft I’ll be working with in the future, and explain how MOS orders are determined in the Marine Corps. Matty the Killa most MOS school you’ll get to use your electronics anytime you want on free time. Infantry Ik for sure they go out in the field during most weeks at ITB and then have their phones back on the weekend. We don’t have our phones during school hours then get them for the rest of the day after and all weekend ✊🏻

I’ve done AirforceJROTC and I transferred to another highschool and now I’m doing NavyJROTC, about 2 years in each. I’m definitely doing the marine corps, Combat Engineer. So yea wait until you experience a lot more of the core. It’s great my whole family is military since WW1 so I cnat wait watching your videos gets me hyped and thinking about what it’s gonna be like my first 2 years

Good Video, Sounds like you have a good job. Back in my day 1981-85 I was stationed with VMA-311 they still flew A-4s at MCAS El TORO in Santa Ana CA. Ask any old timer(and I mean OLD TIMER) and they can tell you it was the absolute best Marine Base in the entire Marine Corps. But in the Corps any Air Wing base is always better than the fleet Duty Stations.

Attended A.O. School when it was at NAS Memphis. Worked on F-4’s before moving over to Army Warrant Officer Candidate Flight School. There was a joke in A.O. it was easier to get a Commission, than making SSGT, super-competitive SNCO boards focused on PT scores etc. Due my A.O. Experience before Army Aviation. In my non-flying Additional duties, Due my to previous Ordnance experience it allowed me to be able such as, Ammunition officer, Armory & Weapons officer. I was able to avoid running the motor pool & POL. Things I learned from USMC like drill & uniform inspections helped greatly in Flight School. Class 86-5 Navy Blue, Retired CW3 USAR

The best part about grunt MOS school is there's no reports of anybody ever flunking out of it. Except of course to the Fry Cook brigade. And it was the terrible fear of getting stuck in the fry cooks that motivated everybody to pass everything the grunt school threw at us!

My son recently went through MEPS and his ASVAB score overall was 93. EL score was 144. He wants avionics/aircraft electronics. I thought he was to choose his preferred MOS at MEPS but he didn't. The recruiter later had him list 3 fields like ground electronics for example. I don't understand this process & I hope he gets the job he wants.

Tell him not to rush. They’ll tell him what job is available but if that’s not what he wants. He needs to request to wait or have his date switched in order to get the MOS he wants. It’s the job he’s doing for the next 4 years. He doesn’t need to settle. Especially with that good of a score

Adapt and over come. That is what Marines creed. So with that being said, there is no reason not to be able to cut your own hair. I invested in hair clippers and I make a few $$ on the side cutting my buddies hair and I saved a lot cutting my own. 0 to 3 is not that hard to do and getting a boot cut is even easier. I would be on every Marine right now if they didn’t take the initiative in cutting their own hair. Those Marines that have regulation hair cuts right now are leaders. I’m just saying. Wasn't going to comment on the non-regulation hair since the vid is 2 years old, but I was in a similar situation when I was with a MARDET. The solution is buy your own hair clipper. We would do that all the time, cut each others hair. There wasn't always time with the Navy barber serving 5,000+ sailors, so we didn't have any other choice. Takes a bit of practice to learn how to cut hair within regulation; takes NO practice to cut a high and tight.

RnGLegened-x /FMEX there’s a couple of difficult tests brother that there’s a quite a few failures. They pass on retesting a lot tho when they get a second chance. Just study a lot! Tons of memorization. Even if the first tests might seem easy take them serious and aim for 100% in the end that could be the difference in being top of the class. You get meritoriously promoted to the next rank as honor grad so taking it serious is definitely important brother

I was just wondering how long the time process would be as far as going through my SOI course and my MOS school before I get my first duty station assignments so my spouse could move on or off base with me. Hey brother, depends on what your MOS is to determine how long your school will be. Some are a couple of months....some aviation electronic jobs are almost a year. The majority of times not tooooo long tho bro. Once you hit the fleet your wife can move in with you. You’ll be set with that. One of my best buds got married on leave and his wife is moving with him immediately at his first duty station after he graduates

Dallas Dixon Just to add to what Simeon said, if your not infantry you’ll go to MCT for SOI which is basically a month unless it changes since 2018. If you’re infantry, SOI is your MOS school (ITB) and i believe it’s 6 months but I’m not sure.

All that tea if anyone was to cheat at Pensacola they would get NJPed (non judicial punishment) and the majority of time lose rank and they’re pay cut for a certain period of time

DroneGuy As a reservist you go to bootcamp, MCT, and your MOS school and then go back home and report to your reserve unit. At that point you go to drill based on your units drill schedule.
