That bit at the end, roughly 37:00 was Bricky trolling. If you shoot the whispering thing without getting the OK from the other people on your team, you will discover why the Imperium military has to be wary of “Ork Snipers.” (40k guardsman slang for when an asshole in the guard gets killed by totally-an-accident-I-swear “friendly fire”.) Those whispers are a Daemonhost, they are an OPTIONAL enemy who basically exists solely as a hazard. You don’t even get anything for killing them. (except for a single penance/achievement the first time you kill one.) The Daemonhosts are HP sponges who can teleport, and they will attack and suck the soul out of two party members (instant kill) and then disappear. They’ll start with whoever woke them up but after that, it’s RNG deciding who she wants to screw over today. Bottom line, if you Leeroy Jenkins a Daemonhost as soon as you see one, even a non-intelligence-chip augmented Ogryn is going to call you a f-king idiot, and he’ll be right.

depends. some builds can perma block or kite the daemonhost effectively and allow your team to kill it (or even true solo). Its also super helpful on dark maps to hit them and quickly finish monstrosity contracts that would take 4-6 hours in 1. BUT... anyone who didnt know about them is definitely getting slaughtered lol

Darktide is great. I would say it's unacceptably buggy at launch (like it was crashing in character creator bad for some people) and there were some monetization problems that honestly, I didn't care about, so I felt it was blown out of proportion. It is also a little light on content at the moment. However, the core gameplay is amazing, and they have been on patching the game regularly. I feel like it'll be an excellent game in a few weeks or months but right now I's wait a bit.

Your perspective of Darktide changes a lot depending on whether you are already familiar with Vermintide 2, which Bricky is not. If you've never played VT2 or only played a few missions, Darktide is a great game, and finally a good entry into the video game side of the 40K franchise. If you have hundreds of hours in VT2, like me (I have over 716 hrs) and most other people critical of the game, it is filled with mind-bogglingly dumb design decisions from the ground up that make it a step down from its predecessor in nearly every conceivable way. Vermintide 2 plays smoother, has better progression (never thought I'd be saying that!), has better sub-class variety from talents, had more content even upon release, and has more balanced difficulties, enemies and better balanced and more engaging level modifiers (in the form of Deeds). Not to mention that VT2 actually lets you play the levels you want instead of having an extremely ridiculous random map pool system. VT2 even does the fabled "hybrid combat" much better, it feels far better to rapidly switch between melee and ranged in that game, and ironically the weapons in VT2 are far more stable and accurate than the ones in Darktide - even sniper weapons explicitly labelled as "precise" generally feel like shit to use because they wobble about all the time and never shoot where you point them. VT2 also has much better characters and dialogue than Darktide. All the player characters are extremely flat and shallow, and the only NPC with any real personality whatsoever is Hadron. It's the reason why she has rapidly become the fan favourite - it's not because she is written so well, it's because she is the only one who actually feels like a person, a little ironic given that she is the least human of all. The only area where Darktide is really superior is the music. The visual design is cool too and has great detail, but it all rapidly gets samey, whereas every VT2 level is distinct and immediately recognisable.

Sea I'm not familiar with VT2 either. Still interesting insight. I will say, I do play shooters and I never had a problem with ranged combat in this. Like if I can hit a sniper 3x in a row with a shotgun I feel it's fine. The landscapes is a fair point but you are kind of in a Hive City, you don't get a lot of options when the whole planet is a rusted polluted wasteland. That's not a Darktides problem, that's a 40K problem.

Dawn of war Soulstorm had some amazing mods come out over the years that fic all the problems with Soulstorm while providing one of the best 40k experiences out there. Theres the Ultimate Apocalypse mod which cranks up the scale into insanity and adds WMDs and Titans while suffering a bit in terms of balance and AI. The Unification mod adds like 20 factions to the base game and provides amazing gameplay overhauls, balancing and really good AI. The Cinematic Battles mod which kinda just says "Fuck tactics, time for spectacle" is also a lot of fun.

You look at the conditions on forgeworlds like Atoma Prime and there is no question why chaos cults pop up like weeds. Extrapolate that to a million other hive cities across the galaxy and you can see why Chaos isn't going anywhere. As far as IG and space marines fighting each other, its always been a shaky alliance, especially if the echliasiarchy (the church of the emperor) is calling the shots. Guilliman thinks the echlisiarchy as a threat to mankind more paramount than chaos.
