I was attached to The Royal Marines Commandoes and my house was on the start line of beat up. The Americans would turn up and not complete the first run. The reason is they work out in the gym. Their upper body strength is amazing. However, the Falklands War showed that we can't rely on transport. Yomping over so many lives carrying heavy kit 120lbs in freezing conditions. I also worked with the Ghurkhas and they are a joy. I live near Aldershot where the majority of them live and our local hospital is staffed by Nepalese, even our wards are staffed and named after regions in Nepal. Sorry your swearing is putting me off your review. A thing that the British do, is no screaming in a candidates face. I was never screamed at. I was inspired.

Out of the 400 who arrived on this intake, 399 passed the 9 month traing at Catterick in this intake. 1 broke his leg during training, but after rehab he passed with the following intake. There are 2 battalions of Gurkha infantry, 1 & 2 Royal Gurkha Rifles. 1 is based in the UK and the other in Belize. There is also a Gurkha engineer squadron, a Gurkha signals squadron, and a Gurkha logistics regiment, along with the Gurkha band.

Whilst I never got past the medical due to a problem with my knee my recruiter told me a story about a group of recruits who were out on overnight training decided to sleep in a couple of trees and those on watch fell asleep so the sergeant watching them got some gurhka recruits to climb the trees in the dead of night and in red permanent marker draw lines across the back of their necks. When the recruits got back to base they were told they had failed because their watchmen fell asleep and they were "killed" in the night, the recruits had no idea that they had bright red ink across their necks 😂😂

Dude i am in the us marines rn, and i am from nepal. The selection process for british gurkha is way harder than bootcamp. Just for comparision, you need 2:15 run time for 800m just for passing points.

These guys deserve absolute respect they deserve there place as one of the best special forces in the world along side our Royal Marine commandos Paras and of course the sas and sbs we have by far and away the best special forces in the world no disrespect to the Navy seals rangers or delta but none compare to our boys they never complain never ask how many they just ask where they are.

The missing pin you spotted on the GPMG general purpose machine gun or jimpy is the attachment point for a pintle mount usually on a vehicle or fixed defensive position the pin is usually permanently fixed to the mount although some carry spares in their weapon cleaning kit.

When I served with them, they had regimental walking out dress - grey trousers and socks, black shoes, white shirt and regimental ties, and a smart blazer. They also do specialist trades, but that follows on from their infantry training, which also has its own specialisations like kukri fighting. They do fun things like a weekly khud race, which is basically a run to the top of a mountain and then run back down - my guys used to do it with their full packs and weapons - it was some kind of regimental pride thing.

British Gurkhas are elite warriors and soldiers you don't want to mess around with full stop. In the Falklands war, the Argentine soldiers retreated instead of fighting them as their brutual fighting skills are known around the globe! Ive meet them and they are so proud and their ceremonal dress was top notch. Check out the Indian Gorkha (incident on Indian train) Bishnu Shrestha and his story made Worldwide by his brave actions! Gurkhas British, Indian or anyother force are amazing warriors! Gurkha standards and fitness are much higher than USMC!!!

The Indian army also has Gurkha regiments, a throwback to empire days and the some Gurkhas choose to remain and the larger Indian standing army still recruits Gurkhas just like the British do but you n greater numbers... So those that fail here could try next year or try the Indian army, and vise-versa. The Gurkhas are highly respected and rightly so, I don't think I've ever heard a bad word said against them.

For some they are very very traditional where their farthers or even grandfathers have served in the British army recounting tails of how they massacred a Japanese position and so on and as well as the economical bonuses as well since when they join the British army they are liable to both a pension and a very high pay 1 rupee= 0.0062 pounds = £1=$1.63 So a recruit will have a wage of £15,985 a year convert that to rupees £1-162.5 rupees and consider their pay will give them on average 98.66 rupees a year and since the recruit would be secure in both food, shelter and a very well paid job, for them it’s like winning the national lottery, and as I said most of that money would be sent home to support their families

I did some rough math. Considering what the average Nepalese annual salary in Nepalese rupees, a Gurkha's annual salary is just over 28 times that figure. Those living back in Nepal will be living rather fat with just 3 times that much.

what you call a M240 is called a GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) I joined the British Army at 21 in 1999

There isn’t really an MOS in the UK. If you join the army for example you join a regiment which does specific things. The Gurkhas for example will be sent to either the Royal Gurkha Rifles, 10 Queen Own Gurkha Logistics Regiment, Queen’ Gurkha Signals, The Queen’s own Gurkha Logistics Regiment, or The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas.

We're talking an elite unit here chap, ofcourse it's more full on. To be fair though, this kind of selection process is probably the closest you will get to a Space Marine style recruiting program. Even the numbers and percentages are relatively close.

The Gurkhas are a legacy from britain's imperial past a culture that respected another culture born out of conflict between the british army and the Nepalese feared warriors in the anglo / Nepalese 1814 war there part of the british military but maintain the cultural identities very few countries are capable of this or understand this historical legacy

Thank you for showing respect and recognition to these wonderful young men from Nepal. I've worked with a lot of Gurkhas over the years, in the security industry based in the UK. A lot of them leave the army fairly early and go into private security, where they can.....shall we say, do better financially. That was where it was my privilege to manage them. There's something very special about those tough, fearless men from the hills. Once you've worked with them, got to know them, you never forget them. Thanks again for an excellent video.

The problem with American soldiers they look good with their muscles 😂...but lack stamina and would get worn out if they had to fight the Gurkhas, who are gentlemen in life and ultimate warriors on war...and so humble, but then again the best of the best are always found to be humble as they know they are the best, so no point shouting about it

May be you didn't get me what I am trying to say.I am happy that our lads are serving holding their pride being Gorkhas not in Britain only there are lots more countries where Gorkhas are still serving. and obviously they are going to serve until our friendship remains. Its about the treaty signed between our government and the British government. That time our soldiers in British army are taken not because they are poor or the country is poor they are judges by their ability and their skills.I think still our lads are capable and doing same and I am proud of them. AND BY THE WAY I am not the government fan. I am pure Nepali women who loves my country and being old responsible citizen I have right to say if anything comes bad about my country.
