I'm sort of a legacy guy having served in the old Amphibious Recon at Geiger in the 56-57 time frame. Remember the Varona Loop runs that were killers. I also recall the back story for those wings (Greece) the jumps platoon came home off a Med cruise wearing. Great nostalgia. I'm not a wanna-be but sure enjoy hearing your stuff and wish you good fortune.

Lol, well I am a boot to you. But Nick your a boot to us lol ... all you out there who are a wanna be in our Marine Corps. I don't care what kind of super stud you are or think you are. You have to first make it through boot camp and earn the title. Then you make it through school if infantry and then if you still think you have what it takes. Try out ... all this prep package crap don't mean crap unless you can earn the title and you have what it takes to be a Marine. As far as getting you in shape. The Corps will take care of that. But if you can't cut it... mentally, morally and physically...stay on the couch or join another branch of service.. There isn't any room for you if all you want is a set of jump wings and scuba badge. If you could study or read a book about how to be a Marine. Everyone would do it.

Hi bro, my names Chris I’m 19 & I’m shipping to boot on a recon contract in 3 weeks, I’ve been doing as much research as I can, I was hoping you could give me an advice on my current routine. 3mile sprint, 1 -2 hours Weight & calisthenics training, Depending on what muscle groups I’m hitting that day (My own body building program) Poolee Pt (only on Tuesdays & Thursday) 1 1/2 hours in pool: 15min laps 15min spent diving (I suck at diving) 45min - 1hour treading water 3 mile hill hike (1 1/2m uphill & vice versa) with 50 lb weighted pack back Usually this takes up a course of 6-8 hours a day with breaks in between. Literally quit my job last month just to train for this shit. This means a lot to me thanks brother!

I wanted to be a marine since I was 10 years old before that I wanted to be military. However I was keen on knowledge and history and the morals such as God, family, country, and seek and destroy all who threaten it. But my parents never were taught and I wasn’t taught physical fitness until I moved to IL. I still did not know what I was doing until I got mentored by recon/infantry Marines and engineers. I went from 250lbs to my required weight at 180 and from nothing to a little above the requirements. Now that I’ve gotten to where I can enlist my new mission is to push past that. I want to be an infantry men but I’m considering other combat MOS due to limited spots and needing a first class PFT and more upper body strength. I want to be a Marine and the most combat affective Marine possible with one day perhaps SOF. I also like big guns and explosives so their again more upper body strength. I learn what MOS’es i qualify for in Monday per my ASVAB score at an average score of 44. But I want a combat MOS especially infantry because I believe I’m the most effective tool for God and my country their. That’s my story I apologize for bad grammar. I’m also going to purchase USMC prep to max those scores. Maybe I won’t be a unicorn of a recruit but at least between this training and boot camp I have the tools to pass SOI and become an effective infantry man.

Doctor Slave I realize that 44 is not the best and that if I want to move up to SOF I need more. But for now I am proud of that because it took a lot of hard work for me to reach that. I am defiantly not a smart person but I may not be completely dumb either. I am good at something’s most of that being history, firearms/tactics, physical fitness, and aviation. I might be good at a few other things but that is really about it.
@lukenelson41936 жыл бұрын
A bit of advice. Don't not follow your dream but don't rush this. If you show up with a 44 GT on your asvab and something other than a first class, you will end up being placed in a job other than Recon. There are infantry guys that have 2nd class, but their life absolutely sucks because nobody wants to see that in the infantry. Better yourself and prep so that you can walk into Recon. If you rush it and go Recon and weren't prepped, they'll reclass you and you have a very high possibility in ending up in supply/admin/motor T etc. and promoting in ranks other than the job you want and won't be able to reclass.
@danielhawkins97176 жыл бұрын

I know what you mean about guys that are better/stronger/faster/meaner falling off. A little cold and wet, you come in last off an evolution and missed that meal, etc, and it starts to wear on em. Hell, I had to try 3 times before I weaseldicked through a RIP and got in a platoon. As far as the mental toughness, go jump in a pool in blue jeans. Rub some sand under your eyelids and in your crotch under your boxers (if you're stupid enough to wear them). Continue the rest of your week at a full sprint and sleep outside with random alarms. All I got was RIP, airborne, pre-scuba, an R&S pkg, an amphib pkg, a couple shooting pkgs and OEMS and a buncha deployments, which was why I ultimately left and went Army. But this video is dead on. Also, I have never met anyone who did not shit themselves at some point in the whole ordeal. One thing you didn't warn them about, which is kind of obsolete now I guess, is that during RIP anyone with both wings and dive bubble, in the absence of an instructor, can fuck. you. up..at any time they want. If you are waiting to class up, get a hotel on the weekends. Trust me.
