I agree with Jason about Hollywood they just do it for the money and not caring about others. The same for Cops, firefighters, and just everyone. I'm tired of Hollywood just being fake all the time and having to be so cliché with the action and drama. At the end of the day no one is going to care about it.

One of the best things I have learned from these stories is that most of the greatest people start somewhere. Some of the combat veterans say that they were kind of knuckle heads growing up. It gives me hope that I can go places and that these people are regular people who did awesome things. ❤❤

I love this! from 2010-2012 i was in 3rd recon and from 2012-2014 i was in 2nd marsoc raiders loved those guys and was the best time anyone could spend in their 20s with so much knowledge and experience in those units I was lucky !

Another brave soldier who shuns his awards, brings deeper thought about his experiences. The chaos of combat that he describes, may be a contributing factor to this feeling of not deserving an award. He mentions several times that he didn’t know what was going on, since he was fighting his own little war. Not knowing his heroic actions far exceeded many others. Nice to be back watching the channel. Great interview so far. Unfortunately Covid put me down foe a while. Complete respect the work you are doing to advocate. I have some catching up to do so I'm looking forward to this. On a lighter note during my down time I have renewed my interest in aviation and that is largely due to finding your channel in last year. Keep up the good work. Ryan your interviews are so therapeutic to us veterans. I served in Vietnam with I Co 3/3/3d marDiv in 1969. It was tough duty and the loses were especially personal for me. Coming home only created an anger and deep resentment against the very people I had served. The persecution was so bad we were told under no circumstances should we go into the civilian populationln uniform. I was so messed up I could barely function. When I see these Marines spilling that unpleasantness, I realize that is what I, and my fellow veterans needed so despaeately was someone to talk about this traumatic stuff. I had some very good friends that were very good listeners, but it would have been lots more helpful to talk to another grunt. Thank you for providing this very important platform

I am a licensed independent professional counselor and so it's pretty cool to see you talk about Mental health. I guess you could say I'm an expert in PTSD, substance use disorders and few other things. I say I guess because I'm trained in cognitive processing therapy and all kinds of other things for that matter and I've done it for years, but it is a challenging field and we've got a lot of work to do. I'm a veteran myself and I work with veterans daily.

The history channel show they’re talking about , is that the warfighters show with Jocko and the other seals from team 3 ? The Warfighters series was so damn good . Really is gripping stories of our nation’s finest warriors . It touched a part of me I was unaware of . Wish I had had the guts to sign up and serve like these guys . One of my biggest regrets

He mentions Sgt Major Vines.... The infamous "Joe Vines"! LOL I was just south of An Nasiriya in late march at Jalibah airfield.. We came over on the USS Boxer. Wonder if Jason was with the team that rode over with us, and if he was with the group of RECON Marines we saw at Jalibah (that might be the airfield name he is trying to remember).....This was a few days after the rescue of Jessica Lynch. A RECON team comes walkin up the runway looking ragged as hell...Filthy!. We used a pressure washer (used for rinsing moon dust from CH-53. and CH-46 engines) to clean their weapons, and to rinse them off too. LOL.... Super cool guys..... SEMPER FI

Hey Gunny, I believe you did leave with the same group as Jason, the Boxer left with Amphibious Task Force West on January 15th. He would have been with that battle group out of San Diego. The Recon Marines you saw at Jalibah airfield were from Alpha Co, 2nd Recon Battalion with Task Force Tarawa, Amphibious Task Force East. We left Lejune 2 days after you guys on Jan 17th, and I will always appreciate both the shower you guys gave us, and how small this world is to run into this comment randomly. Hope you are living a wonderful life brother. I believe the other airfield he mentions is al Amarah, but it has been so long now I could be wrong.

episodes. We would all go to them and try to bring them back to where they were. Never knew, or heard about PTSD but saw the effects of it. I felt like slacker there for shoulder repair among all these Marines with horrible wounds. Saw Marine in wheelchair pushed into mess hall. I recognized him as radioman my hooch in ChuLai. I jumped up happy to see him but only blank stare. Volunteer pushing him shakes his head. Head would , alive, but that’s all. Why I am still here, and served with some of the best Americans that could have been the best of my generation dead. I still wonder why I was spared. SemperFi.

Excellent broadcast! Great work. Jason sounds like the character in Jack Carr's (Navy Seal alumni member) novels, James Reece. This guy demonstrates the heart of a warrior who just wanted to do his job; but awards are given in recognition. A warrior doesn't need a hat with pins or a commemorative uniform in a cabinet with medals: they Just want to go after (WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE - James Reece in Terminal List. Based at the core of Jack Carr's real experiences, thought the novels are works of fiction) Bullies and protect the no name (to everybody else) guy beside them. He sounds like a medal given to him is almost an embarrassment, because no name guys (to everybody else) died.......right near him that......he very deeply respected. The deep (buried) guilt of living.

I was a Marine under Reagan, but re-enlisted in 03 as Air Force Security Forces. One instructor said that the people in this career field were so messed up that you could charge them with protecting 3 bowling balls and within an hour one would be broken, one would be missing, and everyone would deny the 3rd ever existed. He wasnt far off.😅

Love your channel and all you do to bring their stories to light in such a thoughtful/meaningful manner! I used military one source to connect with a therapist after going through some hard stuff during my last deployment.... and she was awesome.. video/zoom meeting was so convenient... and even used better help via their platform for video sessions while I was even deployed! The convenience and ease of being able to get help sooner really helped me deal with it better, when I didn’t have a good way of handling it on my own! Thank you for expressing that and reinforcing those struggling to not try to do it alone!! There is help! Reach out; isolation is not always the best route.

Hey Ryan, I’m not sure if you’ve heard yet but a KZbinr bought A Blackhawk. He’s just finishing all maintenance, inspections, certification’s, and is currently being painted. His Name is Dave Sparks his channel is the same name. So as soon as it is finished being re-assembled he’s going to go get it and fly it home to Utah. He’s doing Sim time now the reason I mention it is because he wants to have former combat pilots on to fly and talk about the amazing Blackhawk and I thought of you and thought you may have an interest in getting involved. I remember those days being over thier I was in them fights with alpha team in 1st marines .I remember them times vividly he was describing things I haven't thought about in a long time .what a crazy time I was with the alpha team satcom operator right in the front lines and all our recon Bubbas did such a good job. The driving thru with the wire hung across the roads in the towns and running over and pushing thru cars was like a end of times type thing and all our vehicles except the tanks and our two track vehicles and one humvee had armor ours on the other hand we took off our soft doors to get in an out and shot from on the move but yes we didn't have any armor .i can remember the crotch protector like diamond flak attachment was on my door I rigged it up to help at least slow down bullets hahah but then we just abandoned all doors and just came in with what we had balls to the wall .but yeah we barely had sappy plates in flak jackets too I know they didn't have any that fit my flak so I was assed out bit yeah man I remember alot of all of what he was talking about .what a year

before I joined the marines I was a skater stoner and when I decided to join EVERYONE around me told me I wouldnt make it or be able to cut it that includes family and I used that doubt everyone had in me as motivation and destroyed every fucking thing I did. i ended up being with 3rd recon and 2nd marsoc raiders my whole 4 years in as a 3531 motor T operator learned so much from those guys and being in a victor unit I wasnt considered a normal "pog" because I actually trained with the team guys and we were all in it together. if anyone tells you that you cant do something or that it's not that simple tell them to fuck off and do it!!

I feel like I'm seeing an interesting pattern with all of the guys that I've listened to that serve in Special Operations units . I mean to say that we aren't really a product of our environment and upbringing would really just be remiss by anyone who listens to these men's stories. I mean of course there's several difference definitely see a pattern with who goes into these units and serves at the highest level. Very cool. I see a book in the future. RLTW 3/75
