When I watched your reaction to "En Livstid I Krig" and you said it is the slover one than other Sabaton songs I immediately though you should react to the slowest one (very similar pace is The Hammer Has Fallen) - The Ballad Of Bull. And here we are! Your next Sabaton reaction it is! :-) Thank you 🙂

This song (the music part of it at least, the lyrics came later) was done by Joakim, like most of the are. He tells how he was sitting home sick (flu or something like that) at his piano and just improvised to keep himself entertained. He realised "hey, this could be something, but it's not for Sabaton", and hit record. That recording of the piano music, (with sick sounding Joakim, humming the melody at times) got mixed up in the demo ideas for Sabaton that he gave to the rest of the guys to listen, to get some imput on them. Pär was like this is good, lets do this one. Joakim is hugely in to classical music, as well as the classic 80' metal, both of which we can hear in their music, since he is the main composer (about 90%) & is the one in charge of the music creating and recording side. The choirs are also all his idea. He started as a kid on a Hammond organ, then the piano & church organ. Only after that in his early teens, when he wanted to play metal songs, he learned the guitar & bass guitar. He started/ learned to sing specifically for Sabaton in 1999, age 18-19 because they had no singer (he joined to be a keyboardist and he wrote their original music from the beginning).

I loved the story of how he was rocking out to Twisted Sister when he was an infant.

I love the way these guys truly care about not just the story, but the construction of the music, the way it all fits together, and the lyrics seamlessly fitting the whole thing.

@@halosandheroes There was an extremely informative and interesting interview with Joakim on the Charismatic Voice channel where he went into a lot of detail about how they write their music, well worth the listen.

Ignore the haters, they have no real life so all they can do is act like small children. Just keep doing what you want, the way you want. Stay safe.

As an Aussie this song hits hard...reminds me of the story of corporal Simpson and his donkey at Gallipoli in WW1 - he saved 200+ ANZACS before he lost his own life.

It is a beautiful ballad about very courageous man. It brings a tear or two listening to it. Polish people understand this kind of sacrifice well. There is another one ballad, little different, but also beautiful. It's ANGELS CALLING. If you decide to react to it, take the live version from The Great Tour with Apocalyptica. Very nice reaction. Waiting for more. 🤘🎶🇵🇱

I will absolutely check out that song. Apocalyptica is amazing on their own, so I can only imagine with Sabaton its going to be a delight.

Helping those in need, whether micro or macrocosmic, means the people feeding the homeless and getting them off the street, getting addicts into rehab, or carrying wounded soldiers off the battlefield, all bear the same mentality of putting others first. I concur with your statement and thank you for your response.

I recommend Sabaton devil dogs and the first soldier:) Also if I remember this story was very, very intense . There was lots wounded and medics and stretcher bearers had been shot by the enemy. Basically the enemy was using the wounded as bait. But Allen he managed to carry his comrades through the bullet fire and pull them over his shoulder , overwhelmingly stressful, terrifying, and deadly situation, but he was determined and cared for his mates . After all that he had of course very bad ptsd, some months he shut down and wouldn’t talk or really eat much

I still need to check out First Soldier, but Devil Dogs is absolutely awesome! This and so many stories of heroic bravery on the battlefield remind me that anything in life is possible.

There is no reason for such an apology. If someone has come down on you with harsh words about Sabatons' origin. Just ignore the haters. A true Sabaton fan would never do that cause that's not the Sabaton way.
