If you've ever seen Forrest Gump, the scene where he went in and saved his platoon was based on Bull Allen's exploits at Tambu.

For this action he was awarded the Silver Star. He returned to Australia later in the year and was eventually medically discharged in 1944 after his mental health deteriorated. After the war, he worked as a labourer and as a medical orderly. He died in May 1982 at the age of 65.

I've always enjoyed this song. Yet sadly not many people react to it, so it's a real treat to find this video.

teamwork is what secures victory, berserk rampages just get people killed, sadly often you and your friends as well as you just gave enemy a reason to target your surroundings

If he was a US Soldier, not ANZAC, this would have been more than a MOH action

Watch a Sabaton video for five minutes spend the next 30 minutes doing searches for information about battles, personnel etc.

minutes? hours, you often get lost in labyrinths of information and further topics

@@najroe It helps that I am quite efficient at doing searches on the Internet and have a reasonable knowledge of history principally 1500 - onward Europe, Ancient Chinese and parts of South Indian history But then I have read a lot of books on various bits of history connected to the countries I have lived in, my religion (Sikhi) and stuff I learnt in school in Britain. My friends from places like Estonia often say that I know more about aspects of Estonian history than them LOL

@@johncrwarner yes, but reading through the found information is what takes time, then following leads to other related questions...

@@najroe I have been reading for fifty-eight years and, fortunately, still have a good memory so most of the time it is connecting strands together. If I am new to the topic naturally it takes longer with Sabaton, I find their take on Swedish kings more problematic as the history of Sweden sees them one way that of some of their former occupied territories see them very differently. Then I need to understand the Swedish perspective slightly more. Topics where I did do a lot of reading was Gustav II Adolph and his High Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna about whom I read two biographies (he is a very interesting figure though not mentioned by name by Sabaton) I also read an Estonian translation of an out of print Finnish biography of Gustav II Adolph entitled "Põhjala Lõvi" or "Nordic Lion" because the "Lion of the North" song LOL
