How awesome is still story!? After serving in the military, Jessica built a DIY school bus conversion to reconnect with her children. Skoolies are growing more and more popularity and I love the opportunities they provide.

I've seen some busses with extensions on the back, I was just wondering have you ever seen a bus with the toilet, and shower on those rear extensions?

Thank you for your service, Jessica! What a beautiful and warm home. Your kids and pets seem very happy! I like the laid back rustic look of your house on wheels and especially the large outdoor table. Lovely large bathroom too, nice to have the space. Some ideas and tips which may help: 1. Rust - Loctite Rust Neutralizer spray can from Lowes (not H Depot) is great for rust touchups on outside metal. Spray and it bonds the rust to the metal and chemically neutralizes it. Prime and paint over this when dry. Handy for an RV. 2. Be sure to have some wheatgrass growing indoors for your cats. They all get hairballs which kill them. Fresh raw meat, cooked fish, shredded carrots and kale plus their usual catfood. Egg Yolk Lecithin - 3 weeks of 600 mg 2 x day with meals will expel all hairballs. Lecithin dissolves the grease around the hairball in stomach so it becomes thinner and can be ejected out. Use only the Egg Yolk type. Do this once a year for 2-4 weeks till all hairballs are out. This is like a transmission flush for cats. 3. For both cats and dogs, use 1-2 squirts of fish oil in their food. Amazon - Iceland Pure Sardine Anchovy Fish Oil (keep in fridge). Not salmon oil. Works wonders on health, heart, skin, fur, eyes, everything. 4. If you ever need a UV resistant spray paint, use Montana Gold brand. Very UV resistant to fading. Huge palette of colors. You can also coat with Spar Varnish over this for additional water protection. Enjoy your time with your kids - they grow so fast. Wonderful life you are leading now, well done!

Thank you for your service. All three of my kids have served in the military. My son did 6 years in the navy. My oldest daughter did 9years in the navy (just got out) and my youngest daughter is still serving (10 years) in the army. My daughter who just left the navy is wanting to do the schoolie lifestyle too. I think there's something about the freedom that just especially appeals to those who've served in the military. God bless and hope your trails are happy ones!

Really inspiring story here and a great bus build. I lived in a skoolie and was amazed with how little you need as far as money goes once you don't have to spend much. A great example of how modest retirement/investment/disability/UBI incomes would provide a decent lifestyle for people. Having used a composting toilet, I would be surprised if that is something 3 people use every day! We found that there is no substitute for REAL plumbing, and there are plenty of options about everywhere you go. Awesome job. These kids will remember this time fondly as adults.
@mjremy26052 жыл бұрын
I disagree. You bag #2 solids with sawdust or peat moss. You empty out the #1 liquids in any toilet every other day, or pour on trees - its uric acid urea fertilizer - good for trees and sterile. No trouble at all. Regular plumbing has a heavy carbon footprint ecologically and uses too much water. This is a viable solution that should happen in homes too.

Great job on how you fixed up your home on wheels. I'm sure you are used to your fridge doors opening away from the kitchen. I think it's so much easier to have the hinges on the left side of the doors, so you can open them facing the kitchen. (Sorry to be so anul about little things like that.) I dig all of the natural wood. You and Liem have lots living space with your furbabies. 😍 Stay safe and protected with God's Blessings. 🙏🏻
