I fully agree with you. I use the Red Sea test myself. I am looking forward to the further videos. Greetings from Germany

Hey I can help with the Seachem test kit. It’s a great test kit, can read Ammonia NH3 and Total NH3/NH4 separate. The litmus papers are actually under the clear cloth (what you were pulling apart ha). They’re small round and yellow. Should be six of them. Looks like it just got stuck to the lid or was shaken upside down. Just do one pipette of water into 2 of the cupped areas. Add the Ammonia reagent to just one and after you rinse the papers quickly in your tank water, add to the test water in tray. Very interesting to use on a planted aquarium. While the soil will add a lot of ammonia at a low pH. It’s all in the ammonium form so total will be dark blue while free toxic ammonia will be yellow/undetectable

This is so interesting! I'm going to go check my test kit right now to see if you are right! Thanks for the tips! Obviously I didn't do it right, and I appreciate (and need) the help!

@@SyneWTD Yup, you were right! They were under there for sure! I had no idea! Thanks for you help... I just wish I could amend this video, but oh well. I'll give the test a shot again, this time doing it correctly!

This is being super helpful I am a Newby well I’ve had tropical for years but decided to take the plunge into marine the first thing the shop told me was to buy either the Hanna test kits or the red Sea test kits. But I’m have verry little income so looking for a better option.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah, go with the API. Great test kit and half the price. You won't go wrong!

What's the Best Test Kit for Testing pH would love to see a video on that
@BulkReefSupply2 жыл бұрын
We usually like to use probe-based pH monitors because they require no reagents and you can have a pH reading at the push of a button. If you don't want to go with a full blown aquarium controller, the PinPoint pH monitor is a great option. If budget is a top concern, take a look at the Salifert pH test kit. www.bulkreefsupply.com/ph-aquarium-test-kit-salifert-1.html

hi. ammonia my bottle 1. drops are brown. bottle 2. clear drops. should bottle 1. be clear liquid or. brown reading always. 0.25. bottle 1 cap is all brown. on inside
@marklipstein72054 жыл бұрын
If the Salifert test reads clear, doesn't that mean ammonia is close to zero?
@MyFirstFishTank4 жыл бұрын
Yes, for sure you are right. But it was murky, so I couldn't tell if the murkiness was clear or color? I'll keep practicing!

I agree! I think its the easiest to read! I have an api and its always yellowish even when zero! Very hard to read IMO!
@jasonwright17532 жыл бұрын
Plus the salifert is toxic ammonia, you can also look through the vial and have it half over the white and target portions of the results card, I’ve got this and the api and prefer the salifert
@yuyu9007263 жыл бұрын
The thing I really don’t like Red Sea is it only go up to 2 ppm. Really not helpful when you try to cycle the tank
@jennanation69922 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I cant tell if you have ammonia or not by the red sea kit and api! Because both have a greenish yellow tint if you have ammonia or not! To me looks like salifert would be easiest to read! I dont care if the vial is plastic or not! Actually I have dropped and broke the apis many times because they glass is so thin!

I think api is very hard to read because its always a yellowish even when its zero! Looks to me that salifert is the easiest! I just started a frag tank and my api maybe expired since its almost 3 years old but I do remebr having a hard time when I cycled my first tank with it! Plus I lost the card lol. I do agree its super simple though!

If you don't know accuracy, then all the other things don't matter.

Like … this is unfortunately why I came. Obviously I wanna buy api cause it’s cheap but I wanted someone to try it and still no answer.

API is the best test kit due to it's Availability and price and Accuracy red sea which is a great brand is harder to find and just overpriced in my opinion.
@coryr35653 жыл бұрын
he obviously did not read the directions on the safest. THAT is NOT how you read the test results. You do it the same way as the red sea - by looking from the top!!
