I had a little wild chalk basslet, and he was happy as a clam to eat anything that would fit in his mouth. I used NLS Small Fish pellets as a staple. They look plain on paper, but when you get them under reef lighting, those stripes...well, they don't literally glow, but they might as well.

I already have a Royal gramma but would like a swalesi basslet too when I upgrade my tank to a 100 gallon, do you think I can keep the two in the same tank?
@karennation3580 Жыл бұрын
I have had 2 royal grammas and as I recall the first was out swimming alot in the water column but this new one i have hides all the time, no matter how peaceful his tank mates are! Which is more common? Also can you recommend some fish for a 20 gallon to go with the royal gramma? He is in with my clowns now but going to be moving my clowns into my larger tank. I dont want any bottom dwellers mainly because I keep mushroom that are expensive down there and I worry about them getting lost in my tank! They also seem to be harder to feed! I want colorful open swimmers and having a hard time finding any besides the yellow clown goby but they are so small I am afraid they wont even be seen. i know they like to perch but at least thats out in the open! I love tailspot blennies but the last one i had basically lived in a hole in the rock and all I saw was his head!

Candy Basslets , Royal Gramma B. , Yellow / Golden Assessor , are the ones that are most colorful it seems , but the " Royal " version looks like the colors middle to head to like chalk coloring's . I don't like chalk at all so I don't know what to make of it of if I like them or not of that kind .

so when you say we should keep those basslet in a nano tank cause they might get lost in a bigger tank...... What do the wild ones do in the ocean.. Do they always get lost ??? lol

How tall are you? Either you're very tall or you have very low ceilings.

So much misinformation. I have kept my candy basslet for many years now. Prior to that i have kept rainbows and klayi and none were territorial to other fish or to inverts. They are the quintessential reef safe community fish.
