I’m English, live in England. Never played baseball in my life but my days do I love Ichiro…

Ichiro's first career MLB game (2001): Mariners beat A's, 5-4. Ichiro's final career MLB game (2019): Mariners beat A's, 5-4. Ichiro won the American League batting title, the AL Rookie of the Year Award and the AL MVP Award in 2001, and he remains the only player in MLB history to win all three in his first season. Ichiro holds the record for most hits in a single season. A record that stood for 84 years before Ichiro broke it. Ichiro is the only person to ever have 10 straight years of gold gloves and 200 hits in each season. Pete Rose is the only other player to ever have 10 years of 200 hits but it took him 15 years to do it. Ichiro started in 10 straight All-Star Games. Ichiro is the only one to ever hit an Inside-the-Park-Homerun in an All-Star Game. He was also the MVP of that game. Ichiro has hits against every MLB team. There are also a great slew of records that Ichiro is in elite company with. Based on his first 10 years in the MLB, his age 27-37 seasons, he is a no doubt that he is a lock for Cooperstown. While his production dropped some over his remaining years, keep in mind those were his age 38-45 seasons. That said, he holds an career average of .311. He could hit. He could catch. He could throw. He could run. He was clutch. One of the best of all time. He should be unanimous when he gets inducted into Cooperstown.

I was there on Opening Day in 2001. Appropriately he got his first major-league hit by way of a hard grounder into centerfield. And equally appropriate was the second: a perfectly placed bunt single. Ichiro is among the greatest five-tool players in baseball history, and by all accounts, one of the greatest teammates you could hope to have. Thank you, Ichiro!

Speaking on business side, if you kept the ticket stub, it’s worth 4000 bucks on eBay
@brettcomstock11562 жыл бұрын
@@victorle7693 Didn’t keep that one. My ex probably has those stubs. But I still have a bunch of 1995 playoff stubs. All three vs the Yankees, and all three vs the (then) Indians. Not for sale - but I still got ‘em. 🙂☮️

Thank you Ichiro. Baseball is more than just a game in my family. I was 10 years old when he debut and I remember getting exited every time we’d listen or watch the mariners play and hearing Ichiro making a play or coming up at bat it’s something unexplainable. Thank you for all those memories.

"Chicks who dig home runs aren't the ones who appeal to me. I think there's sexiness in infield hits because they require technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out." - Icirho

As a Yankee fan, I’m glad he spent a portion of his career in pinstripes but he deserves to be in the HOF in a Seattle uniform where he started & ended. Always well respected & always a class act just like Derek Jeter. Who knows, it may have been the same knucklehead who did not vote him in as with Jeter. Hopefully, Jeter will be in attendance in July when he gets inshrined . Both these guys played hard every single game. Congratulations Ichiro !!!

Favorite player ever the 🐐 the man who carried Seattle on its back, and the mariners front office could never build a team around a guy with a career average of .311

Even now, when I have a bit of a hard time, I still come to see this video. An invincible record left by a certain person. And the story of a little Asian who turned a barrage of taunts into a legendary frenzy. He changed even the ideal image of the sport of baseball. While I appreciate being Japanese like him, I also feel the pressure.
