Excellent video. Unfortunately, so many K9s are abandoned at the deployment zones. - The saving grace is that there are several organizations in the United States that help bring our K9 warriors home.

Teach dogs how to read a map. Then teach them how to teach other dogs how to read a map- and you'll have broken the language barrier. One of the key points for map reading is so they know where to go if they get separated, if there are multiple extraction points in a new place. The hardest part may be explaining the scale and zoom of the map. North as a cardinal direction is easy as teaching them the sunrise and sunset. But more than likely, it is best to have the map on the ground, then have them scratch dirt or point.

Do you get to keep the working dog with you, everywhere you go...you know kinda like a personal dog or when you get stationed somewhere else the dog has to stay back?

Who initially trains Marine Working Dogs? Is the handler involved from the start, or is the initial training of pups done by a separate unit?
