Brilliant points in there fella. I had a few companies offering to pay for content and they wanted to see the content before if went. I said it didn't feel right. I eventually came to a compromise with both companies to make the content my way with my talking points and release the content as usual. If they were happy with it they could decide if they wanted to pay. Luckily they were great products that suited my use. I think another thing worth mentioning is how many products you might reject each month. There's been things I've been offered that I don't think that will suit my use or needs. Fella, I think I need to send you so tea as well. You can't beat a good 'cuppa' 🤙

This episode has to be my favorite so far. Let me explain, you're way of being completely out there and letting yourself be the guy that is out in front of content, not just content. Truthful content. You're always full disclosure. You let us know in each episode, each video, each bit of content, short or long form. Keep on pumpin this shit out. I fully enjoy your channel, out of all the others I follow, yours is my number one for what its worth. Thank you X! #ifollow

You're one of the few creators I watch regularly in the EDC space. Hard to find people who seem genuine about what they do. But I do feel that a lot of creators are more or less salesman rather than reviewers. If I see someone talk about a piece of gear that they themselves bought, it means more to me than a sponsorship deal. That tells me that they truly believe in the product. If a company is forcing you to say certain things about their product, that tells me that there trying to sell you something based on the hype of it, rather than the quality of the product itself. Especially if they provide the creator the product in question. Theres a good chance that they pick and choose the best version of the product to send to reviewers. Thats not a true presentation of what you will be receiving if you decide to buy the product.

Again hitting on a bunch of important points. Going full time as a youtuber is insanely difficult. Going full time as a youtube reviewer is even more difficult because you have to maintain your ethics as well as ensure a continued stream of income. That’s a realization I had to come to and write off the idea of doing youtube reviews full time, and keep it as a fun side gig. That’s how I (and many reviewers) can best serve those who we are trying to help. Keep the great stuff coming X.
@MarineX10 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I think I’m ok with the side gig.

Great video. Some tough questions. I started this YT journey just over a year ago. It is so hard. I got lucky with a couple of videos and monetised. But income is small. The learning curve is steep and even a year in I am not happy with the quality of my videos. I am starting to get some free stuff to review, but only products that I choose. My day job pays the bills and will do until I retire in 5 years time. By then I hope to have built my hobby into a side hustle to earn a little and keep my brain active. I'm in this for the long haul and a long way to go....

It’s crazy to think that, part time, you are doing financially what I do on an 80hr per pay period clock in clock out job. I struggled for a couple decades to make over $40k gross as an automotive technician, now I work in a chemical factory making double that and to know that there are people out there grinding to catch $150-$250k at a job blows my mind. I really need to look at my life and find out what I’m doing wrong.

I value your opinion of gear because of your experience as a Marine, X. There are a ton of other KZbinrs that don’t have a solid background, & they simply review shiny, unused gear from a desk. I don’t watch guys like this.

It seems that many full time KZbinrs are becoming a brand and selling merchandize to supplement capital gains. This could in some cases provide a pathway to the next level of incorporating which is its own beast with even bigger pressures and unexpected consequences IMHO. Just something to think about and be ready for should success land at your doorstep.

I don’t mind a creator reviewing gear they’re being paid to review. I do on the other hand find it deceitful when they don’t disclose their connections with the companies clearly. Why would you not disclose a company is paying you for a review or that you’re associated with a brand other than to hide the truth that you’re promoting an item or brand you know isn’t as good as other options out there. You’re slowly selling off your reputation for money. Issue is that after a while your word isn’t worth the money anymore because you sold off your credibility. Keep up the great content X and I know I’m not the only one who appreciates the transparency

I can see how being a full time KZbinr would be a lot of work. I follow a vanlifer who started a channel 3 years ago and should cross 800,000 subscribers very soon. They post videos weekly. And those videos regularly get 200,000 views and others crossing 300,000 and 400,000 views regularly. Of course, with that many subscribers and views, I’m sure their KZbin income is good and they add to it with brand partnerships they advertise in their videos. It allowed them to move out of their car and into a 4x4 Sprinter whose interior they custom designed. That being said, it has to be a lot of work. From what I gather from watching the videos, they film the raw content. Then they send it to an employee who edits and uploads to KZbin. They also employ someone else to manage their other social media content. You do this as a side hustle and seem to do okay. But I don’t think you’d want to live on it. You’d probably want to triple what you now earn to pay for taxes and health insurance to even consider that.

I say if the person is dedicated and works hard on there channel and is constantly trying to improve there content!!!!!interact with there audience then I say I hope they make boat loads of money.. lol I know it's not like that.... but between free gear and gaining popularity....I say I hope they kill it!!! Make as MUCH as you can WHILE you can!!!!!God bless America 🇺🇸
