Yes, it is okay to have just one bunny, in fact I had one bunny for years and he was just amazing. It is always best to keep your bunny as an indoor pet. You need a good sized cage, big enough for the bunny to feel comfortable while you are away at school or work. They also need water, hay, nugget food and fresh vegetables. Bunnies only bite if they have been traumatised by people. If you are gentle and kind to them they will be the sweetest, most cuddly treasure of a pet.

You can get lots of good advice from your local animal shelter, Humane Society, or SPCA. You can also talk to your vet.

Thanks for the video, I'm going to watch the others too. I rescued a bunny from a place like you said where the children lost interest and his cage was getting filthy among other health concerns. So I worked out a deal to adopt him myself, got him brand new everything. Still learning about bunnies so these videos help alot just because I prefer them to reading a book lol.

I love rabbits. Although the large rabbits can take about as much time as a small dog in how much attention they need and grooming. Luckily my angora rabbit was completely litter trained so he ran loose in my house when I was home and I had alot of time to groom him. He was so sweet but he loved to cause mischief and he loved to growl at me when I tried to take his food bowl (it was a bluff). Rabbits are great if you give them the time they need and toys/activities.

what I find most interesting is that when she goes to pet any of the rabbits they just kinda curl up and sit there like "okay, I can do this for a while." they don't put up a big fuss or anything.

This is a very great- informative video. I really hope that more people can see this, my local humane society is overflowing with rabbits- there is one there who has 'special needs' and cannot be with a family with younger children. I'm considering it, since I'm going to be a volunteer/taking my class tomorrow - I'm considering adopting that rabbit or a rabbit. If I can't adopt that rabbit I'll put all my power into getting the rabbits adopted and into other homes!

I am going to get a Holland Lop bunny. After watching this video I want to adopt from a shelter. Unfortunately, there are no shelters that sell bunnies in my area. And plus, my mother needs the bunny for photography, so she needs the specific breed. But i am happy with it and will enjoy calling it Mr. Noodles.

@UnggoyProductions it kind of depends on the type of cat u have I have 2 cats a guinea pig and 2 rabbits, and our cats don't really bother or pester them but if u were to get a bunny I would still make sure to keep and eye on ur cat when ever the bunny is out of it's cage

great video.... the Edmonton humane Society here in AB has been going through periods where they have 80 + rabbits in their care... It's sad how few people understand how to treat rabbits... I have 2 wee buns who live free in my kitchen ... i breaks my heart to think that rabbits are being bread for pet stores... when there are so many homeless buns at shelters.

@draco3113 Most indoor rabbits live to be about 10-12 yrs. I did read where deaf rabbits seem to adapt pretty easily. The HRS website also has a vet search option, so maybe you can find a better vet? Her diet should be 2-3 tabls of pellets, has much hay as she can eat (Timothy and/or Orchard Grass Hay) and veggies. I have a friend with a deaf rat and she has trained him to come to her using hand signals. She rewards him when he comes with treat. Maybe you could do that with your rabbit?

@Kalinkinaful Assuming she's super familiar with that particular rabbit and it's very comfortable with her and doesn't mind too too much as the nose is pretty quiet but in handling rabbits in general, don't ever do that! They're ground creature and tend to get very scared/kick when their legs aren't supported.

I have a question... I'm getting a bunny in about 5 months, and I'm trying to make up a nice environment for it. And i already have arrangements with the hutch and where I'm going to get food and veterinary care, but I still don't know if I want a male or female. Which would you reccomend for a first-time rabbit owner? (I'm going to get it spayed/nuetured.) Thanks!

this is a very late response, but I believe their shelter is located in northern california. also, all shelters spay/neuter their animals if it's possible, so the procedure is included in the cost. lastly, look on petfinder.com for rabbits in shelters near you. you can choose the rabbits age, gender, breed and the website works very well. I hope I helped.

I wish I could pick up my rabbit like you do. PMJ hates to be picked up. He cuddles with me on the floor, he loves to be groomed by me with brushes, he licks my face, he lets me to stroke his feet (although he won't allow me to clip his nails, we have to go to a pet store for mani and pedi), he even allows me to check his teeth, but he will not allow me to pick him up. I am so jealous every time anyone else handles him (groomer, vet) but he will not let me hold him. Do you guys have a step-by-step aid to ease him into allowing me to hold him? Right now, I have to come up with different ways to capture him when we have to go somewhere.

No, they should be kept at least in pairs unless you can spend the majority of your day with them. They need almost constant companionship - think of wild rabbits, they are hardly ever alone. The minimum recommended cage size is 6' x 2' x 2' for two rabbits. They do bite. A gentle nip is a sign of affection, they are saying "I like you". Harder nips might be from aggression or annoyance.

@AngelLullabye It is best to spay females at 4 months. If the rabbits are shy to you, put them in a place where they see your presence everyday, like at a place near your computer, your bed, somewhere that you go often. They will see that you are not a threat and eventually go over to say hi. Then you may start petting them, or talking to them softly.

Un engagement financier mais aussi et surtout moral. Les lapins et autres animaux de compagnie ne son pas des objets mais, des êtres sensibles doué d'émotions. Sorry, the rabbits are free roam too. I have never once had a problem with the cats fighting the rabbits. Only the rabbits fighting each other at first (Thumper, not the brother and sister) and Nibbles had to have a toe amputated. Now they are inseparable though and it's very rare that I don't see them sleeping side by side.

THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE LET HER BEEN ADOPTED OUT!! I'm now trying to figure out a way to help her or get her put down because she has an ear infection and with that, its about I would say a 50% chance of her surviving with treatments.
