The Mario and Luigi series lives on with Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Even from a brief trailer, there is so much to discuss. What I want to focus on is how this game will be handling characters and how many new characters vs. old characters we will see in the game. I expect to see a healthy balance with an emphasis on new faces and hopefully some altered Mario characters.

They choose normal shy guys in the air ships because they were in dream team and I think bowser's inside story too. In Mario and Luigi shy guys are most associated with airships.

I really hope Toadsworth will have a role in this game. He's really cool, and the M&L games are largely where he got so much personality. Now with him being back in TTYD remake, I'm just really hoping he'll be appearing more often.

For those who don’t know. From the website they say that peach and bowser who may help Mario and Luigi during their journey. The world Mario and Luigi are in is called Concordia. The ship that’s on the box art is called Shipshape Island which will be the main hub world/sailboat to go to different islands.

The mandates are mostly for paper Mario and even then they’re probably not gonna be around for much longer if the TTYD remake proves successful

Yeah Dream Team was a year after Sticker Star and it didn't seem affected by mandates at all. Paper Jam is the only game that seems "Mario mandated" but maybe that was just because it was a crossover.

the fact that the game involves a ship means there are different islands to explore. Possiblility of a multisetting game with multiple villians instead of one cohesive kingdom and villian group.

Dawg you are way off imo. It’s obvious that you get to explore multiple islands, judging by the footage, Seafaring adventure, and the direct guy saying it. But as for multiple villains, no and yes. The villains here are cohesive throughout every island. The bosses on each island are obviously considered villains. The Extension Corps and their leader are cohesive throughout the story. Have a habit of pointing things out.

@@Mymy_64 Mario and Luigi games have differing playable characters all the time. Partners in Time, Bowser's Inside Story and Paper Jam all had other playable characters. I noticed that Peach is on the water and Bowser is in the air. Is it possible that Peach can support you in sea battles and Bowser could support you from the air?

@@TheGameCubicle In all those games, the playable characters were the main characters. Pit had the Babies, BIS had Bowser and Paper Jam had Paper Mario. All were the main gimmick of their games. The only exception was SS with Toad entering Mario's house.

@@Mymy_64 Never say never. We are in a new era of Nintendo innovation, and they are doing things we'd never seen before and breaking their norms. I could totally see mini game segments featuring other Mario characters.

There is one thing I noticed, MARIO AND LUIGI GAME ENEMIES FIT WONDER my theory is that alpha dream didn’t go bankrupt, they worked on wonder without their credit, and also IM SO EXCITED even tho my first game in that series was uhhhhh I think partners in time, so maybe some enemy’s will comeback and I won’t notice, and WHY WAS IT NOT MY BUDDYS THE PIRATE SHY GUYS

I don't why people overlook this, but Mario mandates have not been a thing ever since the Switch came out (minus Paper Mario but even then that was a developer issue than Nintendo) and it shows with how games like Mario + Rabbids and especially Super Mario Odyssey with how they kickstarted things off with the comeback of the franchise's creativity. Most modern Mario spinoffs (even the ones people don't like) are the most creative they've ever been in a minute and have brought back the roots that made them so good to begin with, and last year just amplified that with the Mario movie's release, and the content that came afterwards and we're still seeing the effects of it now in the greatest ways imaginable.

all the other "side" series are way better than the mainline games to be honest. all the paper mario's, remember sunshine? that was a good one too. the mainline games is just.. platforming and some new power up and.. that's it.
