Everything Wrong With Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story DX

Well, ladies and gentlemen, now I’m finally sinning the game everyone has been constantly demanding me to sin ever since I sinned Superstar Saga, so I hope these people are grateful and don't ignore this video they've been pestering me to do (sorry if that sounded harsh). I do think this game is fine, and I don’t hate Bowser NEARLY as much as I did when I made my hated characters remake, but this game has LOADS of sins.

Yup, this one has certainly been a long time coming, and how fitting it is that _that_ boss is in the thumbnail. Seriously, how did AlphaDream think that boss was in any way a good idea? Buuut I'll get to that rant later on. For now, you know how this goes. 1:12 To be fair, if he was, then this game wouldn't happen. Despite the existence of... that boss... I'd say it's still positive overall. Well, for us anyway. *ding* 1:16 Vore runnning theme. For both this channel and the Mario & Luigi series, let alone this game. *ding* *addedding* 1:31 Bowser confirmed to be a TARDIS. ...Wait a minute! Suddenly the climax of Yoshi's New Island actually makes some sense! 1:53 Starlow doesn't know that we know about timed hits. 2:28 Eww. *ding* 3:01 Tell that to Abra. *ding* 3:21 I have to wonder if StephenPlays got the idea of the teeth running gag from this area. 5:34 Well, to be fair, the narrators do help. Seriously, both the US and UK narrators did a great job with KEY. 9:13 That just makes me think that they bit into Midbus. Sure, there's quite a few pig meat products that are tasty, but to do that to a pig that's still alive is just wrong. *addedding* Even still, that strength is pretty amazing. Or maybe it's that Goomba telekinesis thing that allows them to hold books and baseball bats. If so, how does that work? Midbus clearly isn't made of wood. I'm gonna have to do some more research on that. Preferably _after_ that magic wand I ordered arrives. Really tired of being stuck as a Goomba myself. Again. (Before anyone asks as to how I typed this out, I've been able to employ some of that wood telekinesis myself with a pair of chopsticks.) 9:44 On a related note, it's a personal belief of mine that any kid who fears vegetables clearly hasn't watched enough Popeye. 10:42 Again, eww. *ding* 12:37 I _hated_ that minigame in the original due to its controls. Granted, I still dislike the Boats of Revival more, but not for the minigame itself. 13:18 Did they once belong to Abridged!Atem? Because I hear that's the real source of his power. 14:42-15:11 And now we get to _that_ boss. I've gone on a rant about the Fawful Express on a previous one of Meta's videos, so I'll keep this relatively short. Time limit bosses suck in general, and the fact that the game restricts you to only using the fire breath doesn't help. It also heals while it's hiding in the mountain unless said mountain is on fire, which causes it to take damage instead, meaning that even though you can punch here, you shouldn't. However, in order to maximize the damage dealt to the train in this stage, you have to go against common video game logic and _intentionally botch your Action Commands,_ just to make the mountain burn longer. What is that Action Command you may ask? Well, in the original version, it's breathing into the microphone. The DS's microphone is terrible for this purpose, meaning there's a good chance you could end up botching it anyway through no fault of your own, and despite being generally better hardware, somehow the 3DS's is _even worse._ Oh, and then there's the fact that some people, myself included, have freaking _asthma._ So because of all of this, there's a good chance you'll die by bridge. What happens then? You either use up a Retry Clock (if you even can for Giant Bowser battles, I honestly don't remember), or you have to do the Boats of Revival minigame again for another shot (and this is why I also hate the Boats of Revival). With all of that said, this is the remake we're sinning here, not the original. Thankfully, they changed the input for the fire breath to timed tapping in the remake, which fixes two glaring issues with the original, and for that, I'll take off five sins. *addedgnidx5* However, I then have to add those sins back for about everything else: one for having a time limit boss, one for restricting you to only fire breath attacks, one for having a healing boss, one for being counterintuitive in the mountain section, and one for making an otherwise okay minigame worse than it actually is. *addeddingx5* 18:13 It's not even all the right colors: Nayru is represented with blue, not yellow. Now, sure, you can say that it's referencing that the beam of light for the Lanayru Province in Skyward Sword is yellow, but there's still another problem with that: the original BIS came out more than two whole years before Skyward Sword. *addedding* 19:12 Also, Fawfeach. *addedding* 19:48 Well, at least Luigi is the master at doing absolutely nothing, so it's not that bad for him at least. If I recall, though, there is a feature that actually allows us to skip this portion. 20:02 You called them Fawfeach statues not even a minute ago, but now you call them Fawful statues. So much for consistency. *ding* 21:39 No, it wouldn't, because at that point in the game, Bowser would have still been trapped inside the safe. *ding* 22:17 I'm not sure what's worse: being the king of stupid, or being the "big, mighty king of GUYS WHO TALK TO POSTERS". Total Sin Count: 7 (plus 4 more for the game) Sentence: Looping Boats of Revival

@@meta527II I know the teeth thing pops up a lot in Tom Fawkes' Custom Smash series, in which Stephen and Mal are frequent guests. That's where I know it from. It got to the point where Tom made a stage called Dentalanche. As for the Fawful Express and Boats of Revival rant, that was actually on the Hated Minigames countdown. I actually hadn't thought about the counterintuitive bit at the time, I only realized about it later on.

Yes, they did. They removed a lot of small details like that. Kinda ruins the remake for me. For instance, in the final fight, when fawful turned into the giant spider, you hear his signature laugh. In the remake, he just... doesn't.

I was going to point out that Bowser and Fawful had only met once (back when Fawful was just a henchman) so it would’ve been entirely possible for Bowser to forget about Fawful, even without amnesia.

I'd say the differences between Fawful's deaths is in the first one he just falls out of the castle, if the explosion is supposed to be more than game flair then the Koopalings should be dead too since the same thing happened to them. In the actual death he had already lost his body and the dark star core and was then seen actually exploding. Plus he had an arc of becoming his own master and it's over so I personally feel bringing him back for a canon appearance would be milking him. Just thought that was worth mentioning.

A thing you forgot to mention: If you go to a spot where Bowser is as the bros. during normal gameplay, Bowser just vanishes from existence and reappears when thoe bros. go back inside him. And BTW, you're right, Fawful's defense move is ATROCIOUS to defend against cuz of how fast the balls spin, and you'll have to waste a turn healing, so he might use it the next time he attacks.

It is truly a shame that Alphadream had to file for bankruptcy after how the 3DS remakes did not sell well at all... They were a good company that shaped many people's childhoods, including mine. It's truly a shame that they are no longer a company, but their hard work will not go in vain. Rest in peace, Alphadream. Nintendo will (hopefully) carry on your legacy for the Mario and Luigi series. Great job on the video and I bet it feels nice to be done one of the most requested Everything Wrong With videos on the channel. Looking forward to the next one!

I hate to say it, but it would seem that Nintendo's plan is to abandon the Mario & Luigi franchise and 'replace' it with the similar Paper Mario franchise making Paper Mario their Mario RPG title, seeing as it usually does a lot better. I do hope they prove me wrong.

Yeah Waluigi never wins, and is never given love. That's the point. Same applies to the MnL games. Nintendo didn't cause AD to close. AD hasn't made a significantly profitable game since BiS. And killed themselves with their poor choices. Nintendo most likely doesn't wanna pick up the series, at least currently, because of the fact that AD has failed to turn a profit. An issue AD caused. Themselves. And even saying AD did it is a bit of a stretch. As, aside from the Boss remake. Ll the games AD released were perfectly great and enjoyable games. Yet after His they kept selling about half as good as the last.

To be fair to one of the later sins, if anyone paid attention to the story of Bowser Jr's Journey, ome would realise that Bowser's a powerhouse, but a lot of his strength came from his minions.

@@chadpeterson5698 well, yes and no. On one hand, Bowser on his own, has accomplished quite the feats. Like in Mario Galaxy 2, he managed to devour a Grand Star and abuse its powers for destruction all by himself. And in Skylanders Superchargers (if anyone even bothered to remember Skylanders) he managed to take down Kaos and the Darkness on his own alongside Donkey Kong. And in Skylanders Imaginators he managed to take down Super Kaos and his Doomlander army. And in Origami King, he managed to fend off Olly (Duraludon form) long enough for Mario to give him a power boost. And in Sticker Star, he managed to snag the Sticker Comet by his own, despite the Toads holding him back. On the other hand, there are also some feats he couldnt accomplish on his own like in Origami King, if you dont give him any sort of power boost, he'll be easily defeated. In Mario Pinball Land, he was able to kidnap Peach only with the assistance of believe it or not, Goombas. And... anything else? Look, point is, Bowser's own actions outweigh the actions of his minions most of the time so it's kind of a yes and no situation.

Also any of the feats Bowser makes in Bowser's Inside Story without his minions such as pulling an island and turning into a giant was with help from Mario and Luigi. My point is that Bowser's power levels end up as either incompetent or inconsistent.

Lots of this stuff is easily explained through magic, you know. Mario's world has lots of it. I honestly love the ending where Bowser forgives those three minions by letting them rejoin and he gets a nice cake he deserves. It was fun seeing this! I realized some stuff I never noticed before. Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story is one of my favorite games. You didn't mention some other small details they removed in the 3DS remake for some weird reason, details they should've kept (yes I prefer the DS version, thats the one I played). Example is when the final boss fight music doesnt stop to make way for the final attacks that end Dark Bowser.

Its kind of cathartic when he threw the fawful express into the valley because the Monty moles sold that tunnel to the fawful Foundation and double crossed him after he helped them drill the tunnel to Toad Town in the first place. I kind of like that they added that cut scene in because in the DS version, it just blows up, when in the new version, we actually get to see the fawful express thrown into the valley.

2:38 unless you have intense memory, trying to remember someone from 4-3 years ago (guessing from how things look) is pretty hard, so it's understandable that Bowser wouldn't remember, but the Bros definitely do, so I'm positive Bowser has less impressive memory than the Bros do, i mean... Very happy that you made this, But I disagree saying that the Bowser's Minions and Bowser Jr's Journey were were awful. The gameplay isn't exactly the best, but it was still a very interesting experience. I also really like the story in both, particularly in Jr's Journey, where we see how Bowser's Minions got brainwashed, as well as revealing to the Blorbs affected Bowser's Minions, as well. Junior actually gets a decent character arc where he learns not be a selfish brat, anymore. The ties to the original game are very interesting, and the writing is pretty great, and It's one of the few reasons why I actually continued playing the mode. But, yeah, the gameplay wasn't the best.

the realest sin for the Bowser's Inside Story DX remake deff gotta be how the final battle music still continues when Bowser starts his Final Punch Barrage on Dark Bowser- (I personally don't mind it but man, it deff don't fit those final blows) people were deff right about how the original deff pulled it off better by having it all silent during Bowser's final attacks against Dark Bowser 🤔
