Yes, there's lag. It's slight, but it absolutely makes a huge difference in Mario Golf. The lag is significantly less than when I was playing OoT and trying to get that damn frog choir heart piece. Fortunately, NSO has save states that you can to practice your rhythm. I used save states a lot in my first few rounds, but now I'm pretty good at getting those nice shots
@Kelphelp2 жыл бұрын
True, but then again it's learning a lagged game so it's something that is odd coming back to the N64. It's Hella weird man.
@noonant.destroyer11682 жыл бұрын
@@Kelphelp totally- I generally play in handheld w/ Bluetooth earbuds. I find that having the audio clue really helps with timing my shots. Also weirdly enough, I find that the Switch's earbud lag is nearly nonexistent compared to that of my cell phone or my laptop. I'm really impressed with the rollout of that feature

I didn’t get the service when it launched but now that I have I’m not getting the lag mentioned here, except occasionally on one specific controller. Figured it was a Bluetooth problem. With my other controllers any lag has been imperceptible to me, so maybe it’s fixed now? I’ve never played the game on original hardware so can’t compare.
@Kelphelp2 жыл бұрын
It's possible it could be fixed. From my experience on OG N64 hard ware, both original controllers and Bluetooth controllers have very unoticeable to no lag. On thr NSO, whether it's pro controller or joycobs the lag was near unplayable. You have to get the wrong timing of your shots just to play it right.
@joshm93632 жыл бұрын
@@Kelphelp I've been playing the game for the last couple of weeks and have very occasionally experienced awful lag on one of my joycons (only when playing docked), and yes, it feels unplayable when that kicks in! That controller has a habit of disconnecting from my Switch though. On the other hand my pro controller has felt perfect to me every time on NSO. So has my crappy wired 3rd party controller. Weirdly I also have a SN30 pro2 controller that vibrates and lags on the NSO64 emulator, specifically when 3 or more controllers are connected but in all other situations is absolutely fine. Makes me think the original problem has been patched but not completely fixed.

I had issues with the timing lag on handheld but not in handheld mode using the n64 controller i.e put the screen upright and playing on a controller 🤷🏻♂️
@Kelphelp Жыл бұрын
See that's just such a weird situation. I'm guessing because of the bluetooth lag for the joycons? It doesn't make sense.

As a person who doesn't own original hardware, this is the best thing I have. I really liked the game, it looks "fine" and lag is bearable, although not optimal. The game can become difficult, but it also let's you retry each hole as much as you want (no save states), regardless of the mode you're playing, so I was able to unlock all characters and got all birdie badges already 😅

I never Liked Mario Golf on N64 as a Kid. You were stuck with the 4 base characters until you beat them in unlock mode by winning competitions. The base Difficulty of the game is way harder than most ppl would anticipate. Let alone a kid back then. If it wasn’t for the cheat that unlocks all the characters and most of the stages. I don’t think I would have ever found any enjoyment with the game. Now a days I think Its alright ‘Still pretty difficult though’ but Toadstool Tour would have been the better game overall to bring back.

If i want to play N64, I'll just play the actual console, with the original controller and cartridges on a 27-32" Sony trinitron CRT Tube TV with a set of basic composite cables the way everybody used to back in 1996+.. ;) The emulations just don't look and feel right. That razor sharp HD picture isn't doing those aged polygons any favours. And it sucks, because i don't feel a single trinket of nostalgia playing ANY NES, SNES, N64(etc) NSO game. How can I when i'm playing them on modern hardware, on a 65" OLED TV, with razor sharp sprites, progressive scan, with a different controller, plus CRT's never suffered from Motion blur or latency either. I need that authenticity, the real thing to take me back and to get the best experience period, visually and of course not having any input lag. ;) NSO just isn't worth it for somebody like me, but I'm glad it's there and it's great because you get to play them either docked, handheld or in table top mode

The lag is a lot better in handheld mode weirdly. Docked mode with a pro controller is pretty bad, makes some of the harder modes such as character unlock very hard. Wario is killing me! Shame, as a great game. I tried the pro controller in wired mode but that seemed just as problematic.
@Kelphelp2 жыл бұрын
Interesting how it's thr exact same wired as wireless that makes no sense. So that must mean thr actual emulation is just laggy in itself. That's a huge shame because if that was fixed this might be a solid version to play!
