You know what sucks about this Free Update era of Nintendo? Even good games got the shaft when it came to updates and how Nintendo handled them. Animal Crossing New Horizons' holidays were turned into updates that were barely fleshed out. Mario Maker 2's updates were adding extra stuff to an already content rich game, but was cut off at 2 major updates for reasons science still can't explain. All 3 ND Cube titles didn't get any free updates aside from Super Mario Party, nor did the download exclusive Kirby games like Kirby Fighters 2. Heck, even Pokémon Legends Arceus got one free content update and that was it. It's annoying to see that Nintendo is doing a live service type thing with updates a'la Splatoon, but not committing to it fully.

funny thing is though is I bought this game close to launch, played it for a couple days, played every course with a mate each weekend, and that was that. didn't care for the game.Thought it was fine, nothing more really. Had a different friend over one day and he decided he wanted to try the game. I just said sure. We usually don't play my video games for too long, but this one.. don't know why but he loved it, he still loves it. He was asking me to play almost every day 3 months.I think he's finally done with the game but he was the reason I went from 10 hours to 60 in the game

There are some things about the Switch era of Mario games I love, such as mainline Mario, the Mario RPGs making a comeback and no longer sucking, and Mario Party finally good again after over a decade of shitty entries. But you're right. Mario Sports titles and spin-offs have sucked hard. Lacking in content, have bland and lifeless presentations, and missing a lot of that Nintendo magic. Super Mario Party's another stinker, with only four boards, all of them bland and lifeless, shallow side modes, unbalanced gameplay, and being forced to play using a single Joy-Con controller.

Honestly Mario Strikers Battle League is FAR worse imo. Barely ANY content and modes whatsoever and sanitized in comparison to be a lot kore vanilla than it should be. I’ll take Super Rush over Battle League any day.

I agree. I hate how shallow and empty the game felt and how soulless the game felt. I know people will say it's not soulless, but I consider it to be given how everything is sanitized to oblivion in. But I'm not sure I'd take Super Rush over it. Battle League has better overall gameplay than Super Rush. Yes, it's more complicated than it needs to be, but Super Rush was brain dead when it came to the gameplay. If there was one redeemable aspect of Battle League, it was the gameplay.

It does need more attention and DLC, but if you can get someone else to play with imo mario golf is on par if not better than mariokart. You can set the pace, wind speed, type of golf, etc. Its really one of the best multiplayer games on the Switch. NINTENDO PLEASE RELEASE DLC FOR THIS GAME!!!

the only thing this game did right was the character roster and needing to actually work up the leveling, rather than just win once to get the star version. fantastic..... but thats where it all ends. the swing meter alone made me throw the game out. the courses are way to gimmiky or childishly bland. its pathetic that the gameboycolor mario golf is superior. i am a real life golfer and the mario golf series is still my top tier for golf games. but superstar rush is beyond bogey

Oh, Mario Golf: Super Rush. This was the last Mario sports game that I defended; by the time Mario Strikers Battle League came out, I jumped ship. By no means do I hate Super Rush, but of the four 3D Mario Golf games...yeah, it's the weakest. I like Speed Golf as a mixture of golf and some 3D platforming; I especially dig exploring certain courses ro my leisure. This, however, comes at the cost of the other modes feeling half-baked. I consider this my favorite of the Mario sports we currently have on Switch, but it needed more time in the oven.

I have no idea who thought that having to run to your ball was fun at all. Imagine spending experience that could go into strength, control or spin to instead pick fucking stamina and running speed in a golf game.

To say this game was dissapointing is a massive understatement. Other tha re-releases like xenoblade and mario 3d world, I remember WAITING SO LONG for something new from Nintendo I was interested it. I was really wanting to pick this game up because the trailers made it look great! But then the reviews came out, and then I just didn't even bother. My day will be going great, and then all of a sudden, I think of this game and my day gets ruined

Super Rush was a game I was very much looking forward and when it came out, I was very disappointed. I even revisited the game recently hoping that it was better than I remembered but no. The game just sucks. The game feels lifeless with almost no personality, the ways the game simplified the gameplay was stupid, the game feels unpolished with one notable example being putting, the story mode is very dull and the game is light on content, even after all the updates. The updates definitely added more and a few of the additions were nice but they didn’t fix the core issues with the game. It’s a real shame that this game turned out like it did because it easily could have been great. I love triple tap golf games and Mario Golf games had always been strong in the past. It amazes me how they even managed to mess up this game because it seems pretty difficult to mess up a triple tap golf game but they managed to do it.

Funnily enough, this was my favorite of the 3 Mario sports titles on Switch. Never bought Strikers Battle League but enjoyed Tennis Aces, but was a bit put off by how long some online matches could go, considering how much you had to play to unlock the "free updates over time" content. I did love that part of Super Rush. Matches were much quicker & felt more "pick up and play", with the only real issue being the pre-match lobby timers. I also really liked the cross-country golf concept, though it's unfortunate they picked Ridgerock Lake as the course to showcase it. Important context: 1) I'm someone not nearly as put off by tedium/repetition/low-variety in gameplay. 2) This was my FIRST Mario golf game. I did pick up World Tour & its DLC before the 3DS eShop closed, but I've yet to try that in order to experience what a GOOD Mario Golf game is like.

Mario Golf World Tour is still the single best Mario sports game of all time, in my opinion. Tons of content and charm, modes and options, and all at a reduced price. Too bad most people passed it up originally.
