Mario Kart 64 - 100% (Skips) Speedrun

Had been a while since I'd done any 100% runs. Over the last few weeks I've brought the record down about 3.5 minutes.
The 100% category is collecting all of the gold trophies from every mode and also unlocking the 3 staff ghosts (you need a better time on Mario Raceway also to get different flashing number colors on the title screen)

wow I've never heard of the flashing colors on the title screen! I'm on a journey to 100% every mk game on console and this helps. now all I have left is the 64 staff ghosts (I'll have to order a memory pak I guess..) and 3 starring the back half of super circuit. I still haven't beat the double dash, 7 or 200cc 8dx staff ghosts but I'm not sure if that counts as 100%ing. I would guess not but it still irks me. gg

The Cheep Cheep Lagoon ghost is no freaking joke. You *need* to find the alternate path in the underwater section to have any hope.

1:05 could someone please explain why not the same shortcut on laps two and three? Is it because that shortcut is hard to pull off with the mushroom, and getting one is good enough to beat the ghost?

Only saves like 5 seconds each time which in the scope of a 2 hour run doesn’t mean too much. Better to just get more runs going
