Unless new strats come out, this is gonna be a hard wr to beat, abney basically got one of the best rng ever, and the only mistakes that we're major was the lightning striked that hit him and the banana he slipped on in banshee, everything else was just depended on rng/shroom usage

(Had blue shell on royal raceway, probably about 10 seconds worth of save on banshee, bowsers castle, and warios stadium). Somewhat slow Luigi's raceway among other things. The run is definitely beatable, but you only get that level of RNG maybe 1%.

I’m not a Mario Kart 64 speedrunning expert, but it seems like this might be the last “sub X minutes” milestone, maybe forever. I just don’t see how you save 59 seconds off of this run, unless other major skips are discovered. Even then, it’d be very hard to save that much time. EDIT: I guess the “best possible time” of 21:14 as shown at the start of the video kinda proves me wrong. Pretty wild to think that even without new tech, there’s still 1:45 that could come off of this run!

Recently I watched Summoning Salt’s fantastic KZbin doc regarding Abney and his dominance in MK64 150cc skips and am stunned to see this time after all the attempts. WR just destroyed and a sub 23 minute run. What’s sickening is, there were small RNG factors that means it could go lower.
