When I was going for the Mushroom Gorge skip, Donkey Kong hit me mid-air with a Super Leaf and I was in 8th place for the rest of the race until a barrage of items annihilated Toad in first place, allowing me to win. With the 7 times I fell off during this 150cc cup, I still got 3 stars.

nah he had no shrooms which probably meant at the start he turned round and jumped off the ledge under the above platform, respawning him there. He then went back and caughtthe speed to turn back frontwards and did the shortcut.

In Maka Wuhu there’s an ultra shortcut at the first lap mark. You need to mushroom (or a precise hop) over the border to the right in the river. If done right, you’ll spawn later in the course

You can actually drift onto the ice thing in Rosalina's Ice World and still get the shortcut. It's really hard to pull off, though.

You mean the ice platform ontop of the water? Yea you can drift onto that you need a good kart with good handling and could semi snake. You don't always have to have a good kart that can snake though you can use a good speed and acceleration kart but its really hard to do it on those karts.

The ring launches you into a different direction, had test a few times (with default glider however), found out that there's no way to take that shortcut if going through the ring. The racer will always end up falling off course or land into unfavorable positions -- which actually slows down.

Troy I think you should point out that at 0:11 it is slower to take the lower route than it is to just go the normal route over the large jump. Unless you are able to shroom across the grass the shortcut is slower. Also the Neo-Bowser City one at 3:30 is slower then using your shroom off the glider and going over the sign, not through the poles. Other than that there are a few strats that have been updated since, but it is a great video, especially for people who are new to MK7.

Okay, pal, let me tell you the difference. A glitch is something that you don't usually find on your own. It is a BUG in the system's hardware, and can usually not be coded into it. A cheat, on the other hand, is a specific code that is purposefully entered into the system's hardware to make it easier to win something. There's no way they could have patched a cheat, because the maker could remake a working code again. And as I said, this is just a game, your life doesn't depend on it.

I know i noticed some of them are hard to achieve without mushrooms if you loose speed while gliding you can actually fail at the shortcut which means having a mushroom will help you boost up.
