The amount of racers in a race is a factor of the amount of playable characters, excluding your Mii. This has been true in all mainstream Mario Kart games, excluding Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS, the latter of which has a common factor between playable characters and racers per race. Since, in this game, each race features twelve racers, this game could have twenty-four (24), thirty-six (36), or forty-eight (48) playable characters. Mario Kart Wii featured 24 characters, and each console game since Mario Kart 64 has more racers than the previous console game, as of the added power in the system. I suggest there may be 36 characters.

Another thing that I noticed is the suspension in the wheels of each kart/bike! If you notice, the wheels have separate suspension (can be seen easiest with Rosalina in the Cloud level) and they bounce a little bit when going over bumps in the track! Just another cool little detail that shows how much time was put into the small details that make the game look that much better!

I re-watched the Nintendo Direct, and right after the actual trailer, Iwata talked a little about the game. There was a clip when Peach was doing a wheelie...but it appears she used a mushroom at the time. Maybe the bikes perform a wheelie when they receive a speed boost?

At Gaescom 2011, they showed MarioKart 3DS (Wich is now MarioKart 7). And there, the tracks also only had two laps, and in the final game, all tracks have three laps. I think this will be here too.

I noticed that the Ghost House track has a Boohemoth (from NSMB2) face at the top of the entrance of the house, right after the starting line ..you can faintly see it at 5:37, but in other videos I think it's clearer. If I'm not mistaken, it's a pretty neat touch imo.

If you look closely at the gravitational section, the lines of the track are blue instead of white, possibly done to signify that it is a gravitational section.

I noticed one thing you did not mention, which is that the screen on the gamepad is utilized as a horn to honk. It is a pointless feature, but actually fun none the less as I enjoyed honking as I prepared to pass my friend in the demo each race.

This game, there's quite a few things that I'm looking forward to in this game. Mainly, a few of the new characters, and the new items. This game, Smash 4, and Hyrule Warriors along with Bayonetta 2 are all going to hold me over next year for my Wii U, especially since I graduate next year, so I'll have all the time in the world for this. Hey. Did you realize that in Mario Kart WII the standard bikes drifted like the karts, and in the trailer they only revealed the standard karts and bikes. So it could be that some of the bikes DO manage like they did in the WII version. And in Mario Kart WII, Mario Circuit was a figure-8, but was featured in the Flower cup. So Mario Circuit in this game may also be in the Flower Cup as in the previous 2 games.

My tuppence on the two unknown circuits: I think the cookie-themed one is the Yoshi course as it bears more significance to Yoshi's Cookie. The flower ensign could just be a clever reference to Daisy, but the flower cookies do indeed exist in Yoshi's Cookie. The cliff/ruins circuit looks more like the Donkey Kong course, perhaps even referencing the new DK game Tropical Freeze (as that'll be out soon). I can see Shy Guy definitely making a come back. I hope Lakitu returns as well.

GX, lots of people have been saying that you couldn't select whether you wanted a kart or bike in the demo and it differed depending on which character you use. But in the screenshot you used for Mario's "textured pants" you can see him riding a bike. He was only allowed to use a kart in the demo so I think there will be a choice in the real game.

Have you noticed that there wasn't any option for the automatic feature, this can be an option the same as Double Dash in which your driving is about as well as it's normal turning unlike mkwii in which manual mode completely changes the turning without drifting

It seems that the customize-your-kart feature is back from MK7 as well. Toadette, Luigi, and Bowser were all driving the same kart in the trailer but they all had different wheels! (Toadette had monster wheels, luigi had thin wheels and bowser had regular wheels) Also, Mario and Wario were both driving what seems to be the standard kart but Wario had monster wheels while Mario had regular wheels

Mario Kart TV is a new feature. Say your in last place on the last lap. You get 3 Mushrooms, then another, then some shells. Then your in first place, and you finish in 1st. That's when Mario Kart TV comes in. After the race, you can share it with all of the Mario Karters. Hope you understand.

Hey, Andre. In the trailer around the 56-57 second mark, among the chatter of the characters, it's easy to hear a shriek. Very similar to Kamek the Magikoopa's from the GBA port of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Is it possible that she'll be a playable character this time around?

What would be a co feature is if you could customize the character and kart. Ex. You can make Mario wear white like he had a flower power up. And also customize the vehicle, like add a spoiler to the car or a windshield to the bike

Here's another detail that no one noticed. The third course in the demo that takes place at a haunted manor. If you look real closely at the entrance to the manor, you'll notice a sign hanging that says "Boo House", which of course could be the name of that track.

It oddly varies on the region on what that particular track is called. PAL versions call it Pirahna Plant Pipeway, while NTSC regions call it Pirahna Plant Slide.... I'm not sure why myself...

It's not very clear in this video, but it's under the Boohemoth symbol on the front of the mansion at the start of the third race. It's actually labelled Boo House, but for some reason, the representative called it Boo Manor while I was racing.
