Personally I'm pretty mixed on it, the pricing is very good considering Nintendo can be a little bit... Steep when it comes to their pricing? Although I do think it's good that Nintendo is adding more stuff available to the Switch online expansion pack, since that's still lacking in good content. Personally I'm not too surprised that Mario Kart 9 wasn't announced though, to me it still felt too early. Especially since that Mario Kart AR game happened a year or two ago. I think I'm in the minority here because I think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe serves just fine as the Switch's "big Mario Kart". Plus like you said it's been selling incredibly well, so it would be stupid not to capitalize on that. Great video as always!

It’s pretty unlikely Nintendo will release a separate DLC for Characters & Karts I think their one big chance of having more characters and karts was the Booster Course Pass as a bonus for each Wave of DLC

To the detail/graphics part, if you haven't seen, Nintendo recently tweeted a picture of Coconut Mall that looks way better than when it was shown off in the trailer.

I firmly believe that a new Mario Kart game is still in the works. This DLC was likely a last minute thing due to the surprising sales. I think they were waiting for sales to die down but, it never happened. I am to predict that we will see the next console after 2023, likely in 2024. The chip shortage should be done by then and the new Mario kart would be ready at launch

Great video! I definitely share your opinion with them adding in characters. It's kinda a no brainer and would make so many people happy but this IS nintendo we are talking about. Also the way your video was presented is very unique and I love your editing style. Keep up the great work!

9:42 Gliding or anti-grav? Gliding will be in the new tracks, it's just anti-grav that likely wont. The trailer shows gameplay of gliding

On one hand, it's going to be weird that the switch is likely going to be the first new Nintendo console to not have a new Mario Kart ip since the Super Nintendo.. On the other hand, it will he really interesting to see if people are able to get a new world record for the blue yourself% speedrun

I'm a lil mixed more on the positive end tho. I think the idea is great and having tour levels be preserve is always nice since it got some cool stages like ninja hideaway & even have a way to play them or when it's impossible to play some levels in actual tour sometimes, I think its nice and don't mind graphics for the most part matches well with the ingame models well.(but wish it was in higher quality) Only skeptical thing im on the fence on is how some tour remakes kinda nerfed level design a lil of some stages gba sky gardens and now wii mushroom gorge comes to mind of not having the fun shortcuts the original versions had. I get why it was done for tour but a lil ashame that it designs seems to be ripped from tour lookin at gba sky garden in the dlc trailer

I'm excited for the DLC, however it is disheartening that we likely wont get a new mainline Mario Kart game until 2024. That's a whole decade with Mario Kart 8. With that said, I think the Mario Kart franchise is in a similar predicament as Smash. Realistically, what can MK9 be that MK8D isn't? MK8D seems like the definitive version of the IP (outside of bringing tons of characters back), so I'll be interested to see what they do. Regardless, take my money, Nintendo. It's what you do best.

So personally and I know I'm gonna get shit for this but I don't think it looks like a graphical downgrade but instead it looks like a different artstyle and imo the art style is better in the DLC then in the first game I've never been a fan of the realistic looking details of the base game and I REALLY don't fucking like the whole "this is a sponsored news casted mario racing game" theme of the game I hate seeing all the mechanical roads and camera and stuff in anything that isn't the waluigi and wario stadium stage where it actually makes sense so seeing these stages in the dlc look the way they do actually make me happy and I hope they stick with THAT style in future games since they can't really change deluxe to look that way

@@goldenlightning8842 It makes sense. I prefer mk7 physics over 8, and yeah the realistic art style on 8 clash with the whole mario universe and character models. Have you ever looked at mario kart arcade gp dx? Thats how 8 should have looked imo. High poly models, big tracks with lots of details, but keeping the cartoony art style and bright color palette.

Better late than never right? I think I'll be too busy having fun than caring about the graphics. Having characters from tour would be fun no doubt, but I get the feeling even adding characters wouldn't be enough to shut Mario Kart fans up. Now fans want new modes, new Karts, new gliders. Fans can be very fickle. If it's not the tracks, it's the lack of new characters, modes, items, you name it.
