A track I would be genuinely be shocked if it didn't appear that you actually didn't include is Piranha Plant Pipeline from tour. That's the only tour track that didn't make it to MK8D, and I feel like is something they'd absolutely want ported over as to preserve it for when Tour eventually shuts down. I'd probably prioritize that over Squeaky Clean Sprint, as that was credited as another MK8D track because it was technically released there a few weeks before it was on tour. Other than that, this feels like a pretty solid list.

[HOT TAKE ALERT] Gonna be honest, I don’t like it when people treat mariokart as a popularity contest between tracks. Yes, a course roster with many fan favorites makes a better game, but when tracks get completely shafted just because people can’t stop glazing waluigi pinball, it makes me feel bad for those who legitimately enjoy the less popular picks, especially when said tracks have never seen a comeback in a recent game. I’d love to see piranha plant pipeline and yoshi desert finally playable on console.

this is even moreso an issue with the character picks too. Wii fans ESPECIALY got all they couldve asked for in the bcp with a bunch of tracks and funky kong, but still to this day i see people dogging on characters like peachette or nabbit for merely existing in games. double dash fans were also pretty shafted in the bcp after datamines revealed that a gamecube track was scrapped for a wii track. even nintendo has clear biases, probably considering that double dash is one of the most unpopular and worst selling games due to the gamecube flopping. i would love peachette, nabbit, mushroom bridge, and the tour tracks to come back because i genuinely love them, but the vocal majority of waluigi and wii-loving fans that grew up with those games will drown out the unpopular choices most of the time unfortunately

I am of the opinion that while it feels like a necessity for some tracks to be remade a 2nd time, anything 8 related should stay in 8. I feel like this new Mario Kart should do whatever it can to differentiate it from the game we've been playing for a decade in anyway possible. I think using any of the DS, Wii or 7 retros (that aren't in 8) along with tracks that haven't been remade yet should give us enough retros to work with.

With 8DX being backwards compatible I think this game will be extremely unique to compensate. Given the track we saw, I feel like track design will be shifted to more open areas, possibly even multiple routes in them or multiple versions with those different routes (like in tour or even super Mario kart). I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw no retros because of this but who knows

Imma throw my prediction on Retros for Mario Kart 9 It's one of 3 scenarios: 1. Normal Retros like the predictions you mentioned with more or less accuracy 2. No retros, because of the style of the game and after 8, Tour and the BCP, we might get a brand new full Mario Kart with more Nitros and no retros 3. They bring back all of them, in the same console. It wouldn't be hard because 8DX, the BCP and Tour already have most of the job already done, and the few that remain wouldn't take that long, and it could even fit some reworks or even Nitros in the mix. This could be the Ultimate Mario Kart

If wonder effects are coming to Mario Kart 9, here are some ideas for the wonder effects for these tracks: Koopa Beach 1: The entire course floods and ring boosts and ramps appear. Wario Stadium: The bumps start fluctuating randomly. Yoshi Valley: Giant eggs bounce and roll around the entire track. Sky Garden: The track starts storming and lightning goes around the entire track. Rainbow Road GBA: Low gravity Wario Colleseum: Track goes into 300cc automatically. Mushroom City: Stars start falling from the sky. Baby Park: More item boxes pop up and the item roulette animation lasts way shorter. Airship Fortress: Bullet bills and Bansai Bills launch all over the place and explode. Delfino Square: Shadow Mario starts painting around the course. Luigi’s Mansion: Objects start flying everywhere and ghosts fly around the track. Toad’s Factory: All of the elements speed up. Dry Dry Ruins: Sandstorm obstructs view and pushes things around. Moo Moo Meadows: Moo Moos start stampeding through the track. Coconut Mall and Shy Guy Bazaar: Items get thrown all over the track. Mario Circut 3DS: All characters get a mega mushroom effect. Shy Guy Falls: Rocks start rolling around the track. Electrodrome: The track moves around to the best and if you trick on the beat, you gain a boost. A video popped up in my recommended of that "i'm Squidward" clip from Opposite day where everyone was a different version of the Switch and Gary was the Switch 2, perfect way to sum it up imo 😂 Besides that, i think it would make sense for them to just make new tracks altogether for the non-Mario franchises since they've gotten a lot bigger since MK8's release (especially with the Zelda Splatoon series) Also, Captain Falcon needs to be a playable character in the next game, making F-Zero tracks in 8 and not including him as a character is a crime

You will be able to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch 2, so Nintendo will have to do a lot to make this Mario Kart 9 feel different enough to pick up. I have a feeling that if there are retro tracks, there's going to be something very different about them to make them stand out. Or, retro tracks could just be included as a bonus in a game mostly focused on new tracks (for all we know, they might just allow 12 racers on the old tracks so they don't have to update them, so they can focus on making the new tracks).

Yea, they really should have made that first game reveal something the switch doesn't already have. Like a Star Fox, F-Zero, or something else that hasn't been done already. I'm not saying don't put MK9 on the switch 2, I'm just saying I don't see it being a system seller when switch owners have a massive MK game already. The only way I can see this game being a system seller is if they focus more on battle mode or bring back mission mode as battle mode has been heavily neglected recently.

I think you can make the snes tracks to be interesting and unique if you mainly revamp how its gameplay works while keeping its layout in tact alongside a much more different radical themeing.

Personally, I could do without any tracks from MK8 since a lot of us have already been playing that game for over a decade. But if any were to return, I agree with your choice of Mount Wario. I think MK7 has the largest number of deserving retro tracks--that game was only 3 years old when MK8 came out (hence the low number of revisited tracks), but it's been long enough for us to miss those MK7 courses now.

As someone who has been looking to make a suitable selection for the retro tracks of a hypothetical Mario Kart 9 since 2015, I am quite interested in seeing what they will surprise us with for this next game. And now with the DLC, booster packs and other recent games, i can say that anything can happen, so be prepared.
