It takes many more hours to train an actually good AI and also the base game "AI" are CPU's. AI adapts and learns new ways to do things while CPU's do not- they behave the same every time because of their coding tells them what to do.

lol the one time blue shells decided to be on team human. Probably saw that ai styling on him so hard and they were like " aw hell naw. aint NOBODY allowed to do that well in mario kart." Those blue shells that day ignited with the fire of humanity's hope as they flew true to defeat the almighty ai that dared to believe one could win at mario kart on sheer skill alone. They flew one after the other to give the humans one last chance. Those 4 brave blue shells may be no more but their legacy will live on forever in history as the day they gave humans one last stand against the ai menace in mario kart. Well fought Red Falcon, you have given humanity perhaps its last victory over the ais, but at least on this day man has not been crushed by the march of machine just yet. Never stop fighting until the bitter end.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Though there are even more complex ways of doing it, like training different versions of the AI to focus on different aspects. Like having one AI that prioritizes bagging and one that prioritizes frontrunning. But just doing something as simple as having it go against itself would improve it drastically since there won't ever be a real skill gap between itself and it's opponents.

Rainbow road is long and a pretty hard and weird track for humans, but of course the Ai will perform very well on it. There are not a lot of shorcuts, and taking very good lines is extremely rewarding. It's a good track for AI.

Very exciting competition, I will say that Rainbow Road was a trash tier pick. Personally, I would've went with Sherbet Land (penguin inconsistency + magikruiser strats) and N64 Mario Raceway (the famously most BS track in the game). Also, I loved the race where getting bumped absolutely discombobulated the AI. Cool video!
