Mario Kart Wii online with a Dance Dance Revolution pad

Mario Kart Wii: a technical, complicated game where controllers play a large role in one's success. Players typically choose their favorite controller early on, then proceed to grow and get better at using it; the controller becomes a signature trait of the player. This being said, what happens when you take a controller that was never meant to be used with MKWii and try to compete on Wiimmfi? Will we win quickly? Will it take a while? Will the internet connection try to kill us in the process?

if you try this again (you probably won't) i think you should pick Mach/Bullet Bike so you don't have to worry about the Flame Runner's lower accel, plus the turn radius would feel more responsive (Toad on Bullet doesn't even need to standstill miniturbo)

First of all, thank you! The DDR pad has a GameCube controller port, but the game detects the up/down/left/right buttons as D-pad presses, not Joystick inputs. Because of this, You can't really play without some workarounds. The easiest way I got it to work was just by playing in Dolphin using a GameCube controller USB adapter, since that let me map the buttons however I wanted. This said, I think it would also be possible to get this working on console with the right adapters, though there would be lots of delay.
