Awesome video! I'm Francesco on the leaderboard, I actually created the MKWii category extension leaderboard and most of these categories when I was getting bored with normal MKWii speedruns back in high school. I always have fun seeing people compete in these goofy ass categories, thanks for shedding some light on them! Also to be honest I'm kinda dumbfounded that I never thought to put "behind the pipe" in the rules for raceway respawn% lmao

There's something so interesting about players from all around the world competing over dumb yet funny things. It's like seeing that weird group of friends doing something together but instead of proving who's the best at that thing, they just have fun (sorry if the comment sounds corny)

that's exactly what it is and that's how you can tell if a community is positively healthy. if there isn't a bunch of Fringe runs; the game doesn't have variety. (mario run if it has too many fringe runs; the main category is dead. (Zelda games) but sometimes you reach a perfect balance of fringe and main; the Mario karts are full of these.

11:18 I know this video is super old, so I'm sorry if my comment seems petty or if you already got the answer I'm sorry too, but in mario kart it warns everyone who is in front of the person who threw the blue shell that it's coming bc it acts like a green shell if it runs into you on it's way to the 1st place person. I think it's more common in MK8, but I think it's an interesting feature either way.

Thank you! I used Quacker because Grumble Volcano glitch is actually one of the few categories where it's the fastest, so using it would save time over using Mach Bike.

mach bike for old gv glitch would have been so much easier and faster, quacker is only usable on new gv glitch where you wheelie bounce off of the pole

The Mach Bike has very low handling and acceleration, which are the two most important stats for GV glitch. Even after losing a second or two aligning for the trick onto the rock, the Quacker is a much better choice for it because of how much time is saved on the rock itself.

@@beanzard64 eh makes sense, i think im just biased having never made old gv with quacker and have almost always made it with mach bike. acceleration doesnt matter if you get the landing boost though, because you can jump or drift trick to make it onto the rock consistently

Usually, when you go up that slope, you fly off of it as you would a hill. It's faster to stick to it, though it's uncommon.
