A small, but very significant addition, which slightly changes the point of view, bringing on not a different meaning and perception, but a deepened one. A heart-wrenching finale, re-imagined in an even more emotional way (and the scene leaves you in tears anyway), blending past, present, and the all-too-near future... Touching, so touching... 💖⭐️💖 Great job! And thanks for sharing! 🙏🍀

@@DiPlacido71 Thank you for your kind and affirmative reply! I was only trying to express what your alternate ending did to me, how it was an invitation to open up my mind and add another dimension to the whole scene... So if I got what you wanted to do, you obviously did a brilliant job!!! Well, but you always do... 😊👍👏 Best regards and have a nice weekend! 🍀🍀🍀

Bravo! Because the film went there (religious references and the gift of a voice as given by Almighty God) I am very happy to see this small 'flashback' - it works. As a child, watching this film at 10,(and having been raised a Catholic) it was this understanding of God's gift that inspired me personally to sing when I realized I, too, had a voice. This film changed my life. I applaud your insight. It works very well.

ah the artistic liberties.... i'm not against you, but the MGM changed even the detail of the last performance ... he performed Halevy's 'la juive' wearing an incredible makeup + his illness... Anyway Lanza is one of our legendary idols and any pretext is valid to enjoy his art... PS: nice bluray rip ;) qualitiy of the bluray remastered editions is crisp!

Mr. Di Placido, greetings. Correct me if I'm wrong: was it (or not) in your channel that there was the movie recording of William Olvis singing serenade, with corrected pitch? Apparently the video was taken down, but I have the impression it was your work.

It's "alternative", not 'alternate'. These words have completely different meanings.
@DiPlacido716 ай бұрын
Thanks for that constructive comment! Alternate is another term for alternative. "a novel set in an alternate universe". Alternate - a person or thing that can take the place of another.
@chartistcochyn99956 ай бұрын
@@DiPlacido71 Just because a word has been misused and abused doesn't mean it's decent usage - or correct. Alternate refers to an action of rotating or taking turns, whilst alternative usually refers to another option or choice.
@chartistcochyn99956 ай бұрын
You could use 'alternate' as a verb, or a noun. I think that's where the confusion has come in.

Your alterations bring a continuity to the film with was absent with the original. It makes a complete circle in Caruso's life, starting and ending with Enrico and the love he had for his mother, and her love for what God gave him. Very poignant.

@@DiPlacido71 Absolutely! Though Lanza had some moral flaws (as did many in the entertainment industry), we can't minimize his talent. I remember seeing him in The Great Caruso as a child and was mesmerized by his voice. I loved the film Coma Prima, not only because of that specific piece, but by all the music he sang in that film.
