It's funny how Birdo gets to be prominent in Mario RPG games (this, Superstar Saga, RPG, modern Paper Mario trilogy) but she’s nowhere to be seen in mainline Mario games outside of 2.

Actually, Super Mario Bros. 2 is Mario-fied Doki Doki Panic in Japan (later become Super Mario Bros. USA). So, Super Mario Bros. 2 is actually a bit special than the rest. I doubt they see Super Mario Bros. 2 as mainline game or not.

​@@adult11252actually they do see smb2 as mainline, there is a video for this years mar10 day that featured every mario game on switch (not counting sunshine and galaxy) that Nintendo considers to be mainline and smb2 was among these games ( but not lost levels for some reason)

@panwasacz2733 In the US, of course, in JP, I'm not sure. But anyway, I think it's not much of the point. They may just want to do different for every game like Odyseey has Cappy and Wonders has Floran, so Birdo is kind of degraded to Party Character.
