Yahoo! What a start to the new year, and you've set an exciting precedent for what's to come! I was so stoked to read that this is only the beginning of an album for all of the Mini-game explanation themes... if that isn't dedication to Mario Party, I don't know what is! (maybe playing consecutive 50-turners in King Boo's Haunted Hideaway?) It's incredible, but not surprising, how you've managed to squeeze so much variety out of such a short loop and build it into a full-fledged remix. The variations are distinct, yet have great continuity, and the changes in instrumentation, rhythm, and even harmonization really speak to the effort and care you put into the arrangement aspect here. That tension-building chord change-up at 1:01 is superb, and it leads into the flute feature to bring things back into a more playful progression - what flow! I love how the piece starts, too, segueing seamlessly from the OG pre-screen jingle right into your original arranged intro. And that ending is _perfect_ with that layered "dah, dah dahhh" right at the end (2:44) as the percussive elements let out a sigh of contentment, fittingly. The instrumentation here is among my favorite you've created, and the use of so many unique and specialized sounds really just makes it magical. For instance, was that a koto at 0:47? Whatever the plucked string instrument is in that segment, it sounds awesome! And the effects on the instruments themselves are sick, too, with those niiiice note bends at 1:31 - that little upward twang makes such a difference, and there are moments like that all throughout. One of my favorite details is that transition sequence at 1:29, with that subtle sound that's a bit like a referee whistle... the best way I can describe it is that it sounds like the one used in SNES Mario Kart's soundtrack, most notably at the end of the Choco Island loop and as a layer in the Donut Plains track theme. It feels like you're paying such perfect homage to the sounds of Nintendo throughout the years, and I can't help but get excited for your lifelong passion for video games and VGM! As always, the video production is top-notch, and it looks like you had a lot of fun making this one! The characters dancing in their slot cars at the beginning was such a cute detail, and seeing the different minigame footage clips made the song even more fun to groove along too. I laughed out loud at Toad's "Oh-kayyy!" timed perfectly with both the beat and the motley trio being pulled into the hungry Piranha Plant in the destroyer of palms minigame. Only the real ones know the agony... ✋↺ ↺↺ In any case, I want to again express my excitement for both this remix and the album it's kicking off! I sincerely think 2025 is going to be the best year yet for our community. Hope you had a great New Year, my friend, and I'll see you soon! 🎉
