What a great idea - a weed garden! I've already begun looking for dandelion seeds to grow for my redfooted tortoise, so I think this will be excellent for both!

Thanks my man. I just wrote a long post about dietary veriety just yesterday in my FB group. that included collecting weeds & flowers you grow in your yard. lucky for me my property is riddled with different weeds & I do have a garden so I can always feed fresh. I provided everyone with the tortoise table so they could help with dietary veriety. I just added this video in the dietary guide I provided to the group. I find its better to have multiple sources of media fo people to consume as many people are very visual. Keep up the great work!

Nasturtiums have a peppery taste. Wondering if they like that aspect of the weed. If they do you can increase that taste significantly by using manure. Flowers of nasturtiums are tasty too. Just a thought.
@JTBReptiles4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea. My dragon is getting ready for hibernation now so is not as interested in food as he has been, but when I plant weeds in the new year I’ll do one pot with manure, one without. It will be interesting to see which he prefers (if either)!

What is the white stuff you put on them? If it's fertilizer that's more than a pinch! Can you use fresh chicken poo?
@JTBReptiles3 жыл бұрын
Yes it was fertiliser - putting on loads and saying to use a pinch was a product of my overly-subtle humour 😂 I wouldn't use fresh chicken faeces just on the off-chance there might be some parasites in it which could be transferred to the lizard. (I think this would be extremely unlikely to occur, but seeing as there are equally-suitable alternatives, I would play it safe.)

Hi this question's not related to the video but how long should I let the tank be 50% humidity before I spray again? How long should the dry out time be?
@Rebecca-ck2yw4 жыл бұрын
What do you plan to do over the winter? I would love to do this but the colder seasons are beginning to start in the midwest U.S. where I am.
@JTBReptiles4 жыл бұрын
I allow all of my temperate-zone species (which includes my bearded dragon) to hibernate for several months over the winter. Char is usually off food from October till mid-January, so that leaves only February and March where I might be struggling to grow weeds outside. The trick, then, is to grow them indoors on a windowsill! Nothing more complicated than that 🙂
@Rebecca-ck2yw4 жыл бұрын
@@JTBReptiles Thanks for the reply. My bearded dragon hasn't hibernated before but she could this year. She is almost 2, so I guess we'll see.
@JTBReptiles4 жыл бұрын
They’ll hibernate every year of their lives if you facilitate it.

Hi, just found your videos recently and love the content! I just have a question. Obviously you have quite a few enclosures needing a fair amount of electricity, how do you have enough plug sockets? Do you have a lot of sockets in the walls or lots of extension cables? Thanks :)
@JTBReptiles4 жыл бұрын
I have two sockets with a number of extension leads. Nothing more complicated than that 🙂 Thanks for watching!
@mincy404 жыл бұрын
JTB Reptiles oh I see! As in one extension out of each socket or multiple plugged into each other? I always worry about plugging an extension into another one! Looking forward to the next video!

Will any of these make them bigger? My boy squishy is 5 years old and kinda small. He's got a good appetite and does well but he's had this thing since he was little where he would thin around the hips and base of the tail. It wouldn't get worse and it would get better but it takes a while and I want him to fill out 100% like his brother. I've given him loads of things as well.. roaches, mega worms, wax worms and so on. Though I try to keep up with more plant than protein. I just want this boy to be much bigger.

would any of those seed mixes actually germinate and grow within the enclosure itself?
@JTBReptiles4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably a bit hot and dry for those sorts of plants, and I doubt they’d live long with the dragon being there - but you could still try it!

Hi I'm really worried about my baby crested gecko I purchased it from a store called That fish place That Pet Place. They told me it was a hatchling about 2 months they told me to buy a terrarium tank that is 12 * 12 * 18. I don't know if he or she is eating do you think I should put him or her in a smaller enclosure to make sure it's eating?
