My 11 month old, Hagrid, has decided to quit using the bathroom in the last few months. Bathing seems to help a little but I will definitely try what you are doing here. I've also added a bit more light and heat to his enclosure since it's cold in here to make sure he is digesting his food.

I have a female bearded dragon who had similar issues. We also found that giving her a probiotic helped. I recommend the Bene-bac gel for reptiles and birds. She also likes it so it's easier to give than a lot of other medicines. Also, I appreciate the tip about putting something in the bath for her to partially climb on. I haven't used that technique. I usually just sit there and pure water over her little bottom area until she poops. It can be very time consuming though. Perhaps next time I'll try this. I'll have to make sure I setup something she can't get her whole body onto though. My little Stubbs would definitely do that. :)

POOR Lady!!! whether she' stubborn or backed up she hated that, but, like you said, it's all for her own good!!! we also recommend Pureed pumpkin, though, I both are fiber, I think the prunes may be a little stronger... not 100% sure though, personally. Have you ever tried pumpkin puree for your kids? I love lizards for how easy they are to intubate, but that dose make them INCREDIBLY easy to make aspirate foods when force feeding!!! great job showing how to avoid doing that!!! @@Animal1Guy well, works well and is more palatable than prunes. If it becomes chronic adding canned pumpkin to the diet might be an option if the the vitamins are ok, but that helps with chronic mild-moderate constipation in animals 😉

I mean no disrespect, but I liken this to the way I feel when the doctor does a strep test, and it is so uncomfortable that I gag. I have found that if I place some baby food (sweet potatoes or banana-strawberry) on my beardie’s lips, he will lick it off. Then, when he opens his mouth to continue licking, I put some more w/the syringe (in very small amounts), directly on the inside of the front of his mouth, which he then swallows. It has worked wonders and he now really likes the baby food. 👍🏼 He is pooping regularly and his energy level has returned to normal.

Very interesting about mostly being observed in females. My beardy has optimal husbandry conditions and current uv bulb and still has trouble pooping regularly. A month is normal for her too!

Question: will raspberries help bearded dragons poop? My beardy is female and she's maybe 10-11 months old, just came out of her first brumation. Looks a lot like your's. I've never given her raspberries before tonight, and she's BARELY had ANY fruit. Just a nibble once or twice. She ate two raspberries (I broke them up into pieces of course). Usually she will turn her nose up at fruit. ANYWAY, I read that raspberries are full of fiber and will help with constipation and that bearded dragons can have them in moderation, but when I looked up "will raspberries help with bearded dragon constipation" the search results said a firm "no" and raspberries weren't good for them at all.... It gets really confusing looking this stuff up sometimes. I want to thi k that if she didn't need it she wouldn't eat it... But I dunno... After I gave her those and some salad she wouldn't eat any more.... What do you think?

My female will go a bit without pooping. She is stubborn on where she will go also. Especially after she's laid a clutch of eggs. Luckily, if I let her soak, then let her go run around in the sun outside, she'll go. She will get antsy in her tank when she really needs to go, glass surfing and climbing around like a monkey, I'll make her stay in her enclosure until she goes. They are most definitely stubborn lil lizards!🌻💙

I just drop the baby food at the tip of thier mouth and they lick it right up. I guess mine are just cooperative and love baby food 😂 My dragons only poop once or twice a month. Always been that way (except when they were little babies). Doesn’t seem to bother them and they never seem to feel bad. My girl is 4 years old and my boy is seven years old.

I use a syringe to give water to my dragon. I drip water onto the tip of her nose, and she will lick the droplets. I will keep doing that until she turns away than I know she has had enough to drink. I trained her to do that. I started that prosses when she was very young.

i could have used this video a couple months ago. i have a very stubborn bearded dragon! he poops only once a month but when i recently took him to the vet it had been well over a month. they gave me a laxative to give him and within a few days he finally pooped! but here we are again pushing well over a month since he has pooped! should i give him the laxative that the vet gave me or should i try the prune puree? also he will not eat veggies! refuses! i continue to give him a variety of veggies every single day even though i know he wont eat them. he goes crazy crazy for crickets and mealworms and eats those anytime! how bad is that? i have tried the bee pollen that you suggested before and have gotten him to eat veggies that way but that only worked a couple times however i continue to try it all the time.

Help! Stuck between advice! Short version: 8 days ago noticed urate only, and was certain Rex was still eating. He had definitely slown down eating. No poop in 8 days, I folded and went to vet. Unfortunately I felt like the most competent mind in the room. Vet says he feels an impaction but doesn't have an x-ray machine. I examined every square inch of this dragons belly and there is nothing abnormal inside of him. Am I overeacting and not allowing my 1 year old beardie to brumate, or should I feed him prunes until the desired result is achieved?

For my girl if I drop it on the tip of her snout where the lips part, she will eventually lick it. Once they lick it once you can keep slowly dropping on the tip of the mouth and she eats it on her own.
