Your book is beautiful and your advice so timely and inspiring for me - I just lost my husband suddenly a few days ago, and can imagine myself ‘dropping out of life’ a bit, so your words and experience really spoke to me. You helped remind me I’m not alone and there are ways to take care of myself. I tried a bit of phenology wheel beginning 1Jan, and wanted to paint it, but discovered I was using the wrong paper so it just wasn’t working. I may start again, perhaps on my birthday (a wonderful idea!) and do the next year - my last before turning 70. I may start playing with paints and different paper now to get some competency, or I may set them aside and do it all in pen and ink. I will try to be easy on myself and remember any move forward, no matter how small, is progress. Thank you - this was the perfect video for me today

Dear Marion, you are not only the mistress of Phenology et al, but also a gifted therapist and healer. I am old, all by myself, and recovering from being hit by a car when walking in the parking lot. You give me so much comfort, encouragement, and inspiration, it is priceless. So thank you for everything. That book is enchanting; and I like to be enchanted every day if I can help it. I am not able to do a Phenology book right now, but I can draw/paint a miniature every day with the date. I will make some pretty little boxes one for each month and just put the mini cards in them. I won't even make myself stick to a theme - just doing this particular thing every day is enough, (I especially like wild flowers, mosses, ferns, mushrooms with the occasional wildlife and I have this feeling that I will go join the fairies. I will start all prepared on my birthday, Feb. 5. Again, thank you, you are a blessing, keep on bringing enchantment to a dreary world. Hello, I am a fellow Mainer. I love mosses, ferns, mushrooms and fauna as well. I paint Artist Trading Cards which sound a lot like your mini cards. Mine are the size of a baseball trading card. I often paint them and trade the cards with other artists. It can be quite fun. I hope you recover from being mowed down soon. I am so sorry that happened to you. Dear Marion, your book is phenomenal, such a wonderful, beautiful recording of the year. I like your suggestion of getting out for a walk each morning but must admit a wee bit jealous that you have fairly decent weather! Your Phenology Journal is wonderful! I purchased a phenology journal and am truly enjoying entering things each day. It is particularly interesting to note how the days are slowly but surely lengthening. I live on the Canadian prairies where our world is white until about the end of March; our skies however are beautiful and the sunsets in particular can be gorgeous. The song birds all fly off to warmer climates though we do see sparrows, ravens, and if we're lucky an eagle and our little prairie chickens of course. Thank you Marion for continuing to inspire us.

Your book is stunning, Thank you for your motivational talk. I think many of us know what we should do, but don't quite have the ability to see things clearly. You put things so eloquently, and I see myself more clearly identifying with those things now. I'm always putting things off. I tell myself every night that tomorrow will be a new start. I think Marion has a pretty faithful crew going in the comments, that would encourage you and love to hear about what you're working on. This week, I tried my hand at painting a pet portrait with acrylics, something I have never done before, and it turned out better than I thought, with guidance from a YT tutorial. My next little project might be some little shadow boxes, using some simple wooden frames I found at the craft store. I just finished a five year remodel on my little house, and am slowly working on actually putting something on the walls to look at, lol. - Cheryl

Taking Marion's advice about finishing unfinished projects, I tried to pick up an almost complete embroidery of the 12 days of Christmas, that I had to put on hold for 2 years because of eye surgery. However, I found this too tiny to focus on. But I did complete a watercolour portrait of my mum's late friend. I was so delighted at the comments I got from family and friends. I gave it to the lady's daughter for her birthday.
