Fantastic Rick. I have been viewing Phantom 4 (beginner) videos on KZbin for the past 2 weeks (anticipating buying one shortly) and to be honest, all of the videos were certainly no where as comprehensive, succinct, informative and professionally done as yours. You have chosen a very logical way to move through beginner instruction and you seem not to waste any time on non necessary chatter. With your one video I have learned more than all the previous videos combined. This is the information I have been looking for. Sorry for my bad English : First of all great video.Great job.Great information.Thank you sir.Just a note.Something for the "Video output" at 9:52 . For the most of the people here is always better to choose NTSC format wherever there Country is because contains more frames per second. We use digital signals today (HDMI) so it doesn't matter which format you choose.We dont really use old connection cables any more (RCA) so there's no problem to always choose NTSC standard to get those extra frames.This apply not just to Phantom 4 but to all of the modern video devices.

Hi, great video. One question.... @15:35you say the "beam" actually comes out the sides of the antennae. Are you talking about the thin edges" or the large flat sides of the antennae? I believe the signal comes directly out of the larger flat parts of the antennae, am I correct? Thanks if you can clarify this for me.

WichitaMule yes mainly from the flat surfaces but will come from the sides to. The tip of the antenna is the dead zone.

Although you say the controller is pretty much the same, the phone/tablet holder is a huge improvement over the 3. Much more sturdy and stable.

I haven't gone into detail on that yet. For maps, just go to where you want to fly on the app and it will cache the maps.

I have to re comment, I just paid $1200 for the DJI phantom 4 from Best Buy I like it!!! It's almost plug and play but these videos makes it complicated I loved the camera it's so stable like a rock !!! Cenma experience and nice pic!! The easy to fly and return home are nice I couldn't find subjects tracking !! But the only problem is the signal ( it's so week and can't fly more than 1/2 mile without cutting and clutching in signal But it's nice flying bird!! Now I thank to make same on RC heli will be so much fun!!!

Great tutorial. My Phantom 4 Pro is my first high-end drone, so this 'going from scratch' vid is perfect for me. One glitch so far - can't get the prop-guards to seat down to the 3rd motor groove in order for the hinged locking arm to pivot to the locking arms. I have pushed VERY hard and they won't seat past the 1st groove. No info on line that I can fiend. Box says Phantom 4 prop guards. Just found another glitch. My controller won't charge past 53%. What am I missing?

flymasterA I'd make sure you have genuine prop guards as aftermarket ones may have issues. Not sure about your controller not charging fully.

Hi, new P4 Pro user here with a just gotten today quad, hoping you can offer some assistance, I got 2 batteries with it but one will not charge, no light on the battery and been plugged in for assistance to couple of hours, the other is OK as is the controller. spidiq8 hi.if the craft is new the battery may be in hibernation but usually after being on charge for a few mins it will come out and start charging. So if you have had it charging for a while it may be the voltage in the battery has dropped down to low and the charging circuit won’t let it charge as it thinks there is a fault. Sadly there isn’t much you can do. If you have just bought it I’d send it back.

At least I have one good battery and it was a decent overall deal for it incl a backpack. It may be that your collision avoidance may be turned off or if the craft is in Sport mode it wont be functioning.

If the voltage has dropped to low the smart part of the battery will detect an issue and wont allow you to use it. Youll need to return it to the store you bought it from.

Nice information. Just a thought but to perhaps help durability for the foam. It might not be a bad idea to apply a harding liquid Styrofoam compliant too help and then upgrade to a more reliable hardshell. Just a thought. Got one on pre-order. Stay fly thanks!

Yes you do need Internet for maps to work live but you can cash the maps before hand or tether your mobile to your tablet.

It would have to be very low until it was an issue. You would get ample warning first.

There is no functional difference. If your in the uk you definitely want a uk version from a proper dealer. If you have any issues you'll need to deal direct with DJI and there a nightmare and may not handle a US version.

I panicked and crashed it.. no serious damage per say BUT two of the propellers have a scuff on them.. now is it safe to fly with those two scuffed propellers? or do I need to replace them? thanks awaiting your reply.

Hello , I'd like to clear something up. I know if I use my IPhone , I'm connected to the internet . Can you use a pad (android or IOS) that is NOT connected to internet ? I've seen people with pads attaching wirelessly to a laptop. That's where the confusion is. Thanks.

the first time you turn it on. you need to be hooked up to internet to register device with DJI. After that you won't need internet. So if you're in the mountains and no service you could still fly.

And lets not just rely on the DJI GO App for updates, You can also Download the "DJI Assistant 2" for your PC and just connect your phantom via USB and use that program for updating as well.
