Good analysis! Why did they do Diddy so dirty in Sluggers? I'm actually glad you confirmed this as when I used to play Sluggers a lot, I _always_ had trouble with his batting compared to other characters (except maybe Wiggler), so this makes more sense. I just find it weird they nerfed him so hard (yeah, he wasn't nearly this terrible in Superstar Baseball).

As someone who mostly played superstar baseball and only put about 1/4 as much time into sluggers i never realized how much Diddy was nerfed in the sequel. Diddy had super catch in the first game, which made him unable to drop any non-star hit, and tied for 4th on the roster in speed, and that combination made him an excellent defensive outfielder.

0:37 Hey that's me! I've been kind of up on Diddy Kong recently not gonna lie. Daisy's been trending down ever since I learned you can counter Flower Swing (however tricky it may be) so I've been looking into other star swinging captains and aside from Diddy and Waluigi there really aren't any. I've been liking Diddy more, funnily enough, because of his chemistry tree. Funky > Captain Diddy > Dixie > Pink Mii > Peach > Daisy > Birdo > Petey > Wiggler doesn't really get hate picked in my experience and checks off every box you need to make a team, with Diddy + Dixie + Pink Mii making for an effectual buddy jump OF. Sure this is a niche specific to items-on, Miis unbanned, but I feel that at least makes him better than someone like Toadsworth or Baby Daisy who will never have a use anywhere. That said, even as captain, Diddy is pretty much 100% reliant on his star swing to get anything done since Diddy + Dixie + Pink Mii isn't exactly the best OF in the game. Take that away from him by making him a non-captain and in my mind he is indisputably the worst character in the game. Also funnily enough, he's even worse if you play without error items because when you regularly have to go up against teams with 6+ power hitters, wasting a teamslot on a character who needs star swings to even function is a horrible idea.

Interesting, glad to hear your thoughts. Like I said, I don’t hate funky or Dixie so I’m fine with picking them. Though I don’t love him in the outfield unless clamber could somehow come into play. It’s tough comparing him to other bad players, idk who I wanna put at the bottom!

I can definitely agree with the fact that Diddy Kong is the worst character in Mario Sluggers. In fact, I even mentioned in a comment on your video on about who everyone’s favorite, least favorite characters in Mario Sluggers were. I said that “the babies are the worst characters in the game, excluding Diddy Kong, and Toadsworth.” It’s crazy how he’s even considered worse than characters like Toadsworth, Toadette, the babies, and Orange Mii. Maybe in Mario Baseball three, they can make him the best character in the game. XD

Okay, I really appreciate the segment for helping and supporting people that want to play Diddy Kong. There are too many character opinion/analysis videos in multiple games that just become lazy and condescending with "bad, don't play" when they should understand that people out there still want to play characters they like. Of course! It comes from the fact that we tend to play with weird and gimmicky teams, so low-tier characters will often end up on our teams. Winning with those teams requires knowing how to use those characters. And thanks, it’s one of my favorite soundtracks of all time so it was easy to find songs that fit :)

The best game I ever pitched in Super Sluggers was with Diddy. I had a perfect game into the 7th or 8th inning and wound up with a one hit shutout.

You are right about tha lack of chemistry. At most, Diddy Kong is pretty mid in Mario Sluggers. Diddy ain't that bad! At least his chemistry is not the Kritters with just King K Rool! Thats even worse for chemistry. The worst character is definitely both Baby Luigi and Dixie Kong aka Dixie Normus. Baby Luigi has no arm and cannot really hit. Dixie on the other hand can hit decently but is inconsistent on defense. Too many drops and hits are as bad as Diddy Kong. She can be a liability.

imma be honest. i use monty all the time since i mostly use bowser/king boo into petey and wiggler trees, and monty and blooper do way more in the games i play with people than diddy ever has on either side so i will in fact, agree with the sentiment that diddy is worse.

I hate how Toadette gets sm hate 😭 yea she might not be the best but she has chemistry with all the Toads, Peach, Toadsworth, and the Nokis and is a great center fielder with the Nokis or Toads. She has a decent sweet spot and people see her as unlikely to hit well, so she could easily get a good hit. She's a great bunter, (if you're good at aiming with items) she will almost never fail to rob a home run and she is a decent relief pitcher. I might be biased because she's my favorite character in the entire Mario series, but please stop doing my underrated queen dirty 😭
